Cannae Brentano in the Volunteer to End Your Premium Acct. Stipends thread said this (since I don't want to clutter that very specific thread):

"There are also a lot of players who are unable to make 500 lindens per week working in SL either. There need to be more jobs, especially for newer players. In addition, these jobs need to be fun somehow to those who are working them.

There needs to be something that new/poor players can do to contribute to the game, via doing more work that benefits established players, so that players with money will actually benefit by hiring others. Solve that and you've solved most of the economic problems."

I agree, and while I have had five of the sims mentioned below taken including by one 8 hour old newbie, I'm not sure there's either as much demand or ease of finding such jobs. This was posted in the "Help Wanted" forum which is no reply so I'm sorry for repeating myself:

"I am beginning a database project to document all of Second Life at SLHandbook.com which will feature a Yellow Pages style directory for all users. To build the database system I need starter information and that's where you come in."

"I have picked 19 sims and need one user per sim to perform the following:"

"Check each parcel in the sim for owner, user and/or group name
Save snapshot to disk of that parcel, framing at your discretion
Write a short description of the parcel: house, shop (what do they sell), etc."

"Each description should be typed into an e-mail with the snapshots attached and mailed to me."

"Payment will be L$1,000 with half up-front, the other half after receipt of the e-mail. As this is a test for database building I will be verifying each sim afterwards and those who do well will be contacted about future work."

"The sims are: Batak, Dacia, Dari, Davvi, Dusun, Furu, Igbo, Kafiri, Lozi, Luo, Sami, Shona, Tharu, Tuvan, Urdu, Voti, Wolof, Zazi, Zuni"

"If you have any interest please IM Clubside Granville."

Is this the type of "contribute to the game" job you are talking about? Can some other people suggest other good newbie jobs? While I'm still a newbie (about to pop the 45-day cherry) and make no money I've just bought L$ (hundreds of thousands) and given it all away/bought stuff trying to help others and myself get up to speed on this wonderful platform/game.

I know I will have more jobs related to my coming websites, for writers, artists, surveyors and scripters, but are there other examples I might be able to offer today or that others might respond to that they just haven't thought of.

I apologize if this should be in General, but as I'm responding to a post in this thread and my jobs are Land based, hope noone minds!
