L$ to $

I would stay.

I decided to pay upfront for a year's premium membership soon after signing up for a basic account because I liked most of what I saw in SL and the possibilities - socialising, building, scripting, creating etc - just blew my mind!

I would not want to see the option of converting L$ to US$ (and vice versa) to go. Mostly because I buy L$ when I need them to buy land and cool things to put in my new place. I think that content creators *and* real estate agents are both valuable to SL's economy and the option to cash out L$ you have earned is essential for SL's future development.

I think that content creation would still take place without the option to cash out but on a very different scale and for slightly different motivations. Creative people will still want to make clothing, furniture, scripts, gadgets etc for their own amusement and for the acclaim of their peers (that's at least part of the motivation even now) but the motivation to provide follow up service will be greatly diminished.

Right now cashing out my lindens pays for my teir and my premium account. So if I couldn't cash out to my account I wouldn't have nearly what I have now - no premium account and no land.

If I could cash out just to pay premium accounts and teir I probably wouldn't work nearly as hard as I am now. My situation in game is getting to the point where what I earn in game is going to exceded my costs - yeay for proffits.

Wether I ever cash it out or just spend more in game remains to be seen and will probably depend on how much it is and how badly I need cash irl LOL.

That being said if I couldn't cash it out for rl cash in my pocket I'd probably get the house that I wanted and enough business to sustain teir and my permium account and call it good.

So I don't think I'd leave, but I wouldn't work nearly as hard develping my business as I am now.

Give a person a feeling of ownership and possible financial reward and they will work 10x harder than if they felt all they would get out of it is fun.

I'm just wondering how many people here play the game because they love to play it for whatever reason they do - be it socialising, building, creating and selling, partying, sex *shudder* or any of the other myriad reasons..... or whether they were just "milking the system" for their own real world financial benefit.

Because I'm in a goofy mood and I think you need a laugh. Well, not guaranteed that you'll laugh at this, but you never know.

Seriously... For a guy that wants to just enjoy the game, it seems like you have a ton of hangups after just a short time here.

Relax! We all enjoy SL for different reasons. Tone down the righteous rhetoric a bit and you wont come off as so coarse to people. It's fine to expect this game to be a certain way for you, but when you get in people's faces and present your ideas in a "this is THE way" attitude, people are going to get defensive and call you out on it.

Be cool.
