First of all, this thread is only for nOObs. If you are not a nOOb, please see yourself out. Thank you.

Okay. Time to get down to business. I just wanted to have a thread for you to keep you from being discouraged by the osteriches and clueless people in secondlife when it comes to the economy.

Don't believe any of that BS that the L$ is undervalued (its going to fall a LOT more) or that it is too hard to open a business in SL. Thats all bunk propagated by old krusties that are bitter because SL is not the "way it used to be" (by the way, SL used to be very Communistic and not so free and open - it was awful but things are a lot better now).

SL is a GREAT place to live your dreams of opening a shop, club, business, or whatever. I won't lie to you - its not an EASY place to make money. And it won't happen overnight. But if you keep at it and are determined good things can happen. SL's largest businessperson has built a $150,000 USD+ empire out of a $9.99 introductory account. If you have enough drive, good ideas, and vision you can do it too!

SL is what you make of it. Don't take anyone's word as gospel (not even mine, although I am way more realistic than most). Do your best, keep trying, and you'll have a great time in SL--- you might even strike it big!

Carpe Diem!!!

Jamie, I am a nOOb and would like to thank you for your thread introducing nOObs to SL. You have so many enemies the people you are trying to help may not feel comfortable posting here but it doesn't bother me. I don't agree with some of what you say but respect your right to express your opinion. I certainly don't need to encourage you as you are a very independent person who seems to fear no evil, have fun.

What if I created an alt and then pretended to be a n00b...

... and then used that alt to scam people out of their time and money, trying to sell them a "lucky cat", then spent all the money at Starbucks and told everyone that I donated it to a charity...

Then would I be allowed into this thread, Giveme, er, I mean Jamie?

nOObs need to know that there are various krusties out there who latch on to the old Communistic ways and try to drag others down. I'm one of thier targets.

But I refuse to be dragged down and I'll fight tooth and nail to help our nOObs become successful business people.

After passing it thru the filter, I don't see the problem. Great words of advice! :)

Uh huh... Just as long as you can overcharge them for it and not bother telling them they can get the same "help" elsewhere free of charge. Then when they're good and successful, take all their hard work and line your own pockets with it all over again.

No, you're not a target - just someone who likes to slap a price on content that was created with the intent of being (and remaining) free to the community - especially for those resident who are just starting out.

I wonder, does helping those nOObs become successful include selling them freebies?

Most of the knock-off content is.....griefing tools (ie) guns, bombs etc.

That is how communist countries stay in business, by selling arms and WMD to the vulnerable countries.

See the more people who are out there creating content, the more content there is for her to steal and rip people off with. Eventually LL really is going to finally fix the permissions system and poor little Jamie is going to be in real trouble. All the new cool content people give away will be unsellable and all he'll have left to sell will be old outdated stuff no one will want. Even newbies can tell the difference between the old stuff they'll see in his store and the new cool stuff everyone else has.

Both very good points, I would like to see Jamie respond to both of these statements.

1. I'm not in the freebie selling business.
2. I'm not a Communist nation.

You're not? Did the bad press get to you? When did you stop selling freebies?

Yet, so relevant as an example of character.
