Why not do something useful with that premium stipend? There are a lot of Second Life non-profits that have been hard hit by the loss of Developers Incentives & Dwell--and by the falling L$. If you want to give up your 500L$ a week stipend (or your 50L$ a week stipend), these places could make good use of it. A few dozen--or even a few hundred--players voluntarily giving up their stipends will make almost no difference in the SL economy as a whole--but donating those stipends could make a big difference to various in-world charities. May I suggest three that I'm involved in: New Citizens Incorporated (donate via NCI accounting alt, "NCI Golem" The Shelter (donate via Shelter accounting alt, "Sheltered Ambassador" Foundation for Rich Content (donate via FFRC accounting alt, "FFRCAccounting Control" These are just three that I'm involved with. I encourage people to suggest other SL non-profits that could use stipend donations on this thread, too. And yes--I do donate my stipends (and more) to these places--and have been for many months...

Carl, you are correct. A few hundred or even thousand residents voluntarily giving up their stipends most likely will not make a difference. But it is a start and it needs to start somewhere. The purpose of my thread ( /130/a0/109283/1.html) is to raise awareness and let those who think stipends are one of the causes of SL's economic imbalance to step up to the plate and demonstrate their conviction. By doing so, we may send LL a message. Also, if people choose to donate to a cause, it will only help the imbalance if those causes use the donations on sink expenditures. However, I would not mind donating a portion of my profits to a cause or two. My store goes on line in the next couple of weeks or so. I would be interested in learning more about the causes you're involved in.

I like this concept.
Could you explain who those charities are (that you mentioned) and what they do? You only gave names, and they don't really give many clues.
Musuko.
