How many prims per square meter?

I am a little nervous about my investment in SL. But only in the nature of how well they spell out the rules for certain fundamental issues. In this case, how many prims per meter?

1. Is there a uniform amount of prims per square meter?
2. What is that number?
2. If there is not why?
4. And how can I determine that in a clear and consistent manner?
5. Why is it not stated along with price and amount of meters?

This information is fairly fundamental to the evaluation of any land parcel and there seems to little information on the issue. I have read the website stuff on land and the wiki but have I missed this?

There are 15,000 / 65,536 prims allocated per square meter.

It's a little easier to use the fact that a 512 sqm plot can support 117 prims.

If you can't remember or can't work out the number of prims approximately (most of us, I suspect, use 117 prims per 512 sqm since lots of plots are in multiples of 512sqm) you can visit the plot and use About Land and the Objects tab to get the number of prims on a plot.

There are also a few 'City Sims' that offer twice this amount of prims - because there's lots of empty linden land and the prims are worked out per sim. Land over there almost never comes up for sale though.

Land is in 16m^2 chunks, each supports 3.662109375 prims, floor()ed since you can't have partial prims.
