From: Ellie Edo There are those who are obsessed with compensating GOM for future loss of income. Who? Where? You're pulling out all the stops on this. You've given about 5 different reasons for wanting to play Nancy Drew (substitue Hardy Boys, if you think I'm making a gender claim) regarding GOM. But it's really beginning to look like a desperate attempt to avoid simply admitting that perhaps you've overstepped the bounds of polite conduct. You have every "right" to do what you are doing, but it's really kinda impolite. Nevertheless, I wish you well on your endeavors to post analysis of Linden Lab's financials, on Linden Lab owned forums, based on too little data and lots of speculation.

From: Ellie Edo Our need to recover this was also at the root of our failure to accept LL's offer. We didn't want shares, we wanted to recover the cash we had deprived ourselves of. And LL refused to accept the sheer scale of what we needed to recover, and just thought we were asking too much.
And the truth comes out. You believe that the offer that LL had given them was fair, even though you know none of the details. Why not just say that and not post 3 different stories? I will gladly debate the policy of LL dealing with this matter, I will debate what I think LL should have done for GOM, I will not debate things based on facts that I do not know. I don't know what was offered to GOM, I don't know what the counter offer was, I know nothing of any of the talks between LL and GOM. All I know is that LL is opening a GOM like exchange in the future.

From: Jack Feaver The problem with this is that you're taking a commission on the USD. The 5 cent average commission others guestimated would be on a block of 1000 L$ sold, so if applying the 5 cent commission, we have to convert USD to L$. Otherwise we'll have to calculate a proper commission per USD -- 5 cents is excessive. Bah, you are right. Starting to get shaken by all the mistakes I've made lately. The income is getting further and further down. Even without the unknown expenses, it makes me wish they would of made more. I do have to say 12 cent spreads are a rather nice low spread for trades.

Sorry, no offense, but is it really useful to call out GOM and speculate on their earnings in such way?
To be frank, if they said they made only 1200$ since they started, then I think this is very believable!
I buy and sell currency myself. As such I know a little bit about the cost side, things like fraud and risk and fees. It was always clear to me that, considering their fee structure, GOM must actually be lucky if they not end up with loss.
I am not going into detail here, as it is only frustrating topic. Usually people not talk much about it to not encourage more criminals. But it is the sad truth, that costs like website hosting and even PayPal fees might be marginal compared to costs of credit card fraud and PayPal chargeback scams.
