Here's my problem: the only way money is actually getting IN to SL is through Linden Lab. You can't create money in SL by buying it; you instead get money that someone else already had. So at some level, our stipends and dwell payments really are what is funding the L$ side of Lindex. Based on that, I'd have to believe that the only touchstone we can rely on is the cost of a premium account, which is $9.95 a month. If you get L$2000 for that $9.95, then the rate should stabilize around L$250/USD. It will probably dip a little lower, since dwell and basic accounts also generate money. Depending on how many people pay quarterly instead of monthly, the rate could stabilize lower, as well. I can't see too many people buying annual accounts just to farm L$ But I can never see it going much below the point where the L$ cost much less than whatever the premium account costs. It would cause the inventory of cheap L$ to sell off, since people wouldn't have enough L$ to meet the demand. Then the price will go up again. The rates are a bit low right now, but if you look, there's a LOT of supply. I can't see that supply lasting forever, though. My guess is that people will drop the rate even lower for a while, then it will come back up to somewhere around the L$260/$1 mark. (And it's driving me nuts that some people are quoting USD/Block prices and others are quoting L$/USD prices. We buy L$ on Lindex now, so it makes sense to me to quote prices as L$/1 USD, like Lindex does. Seeing both confuses me, and I have to keep converting numbers in my head.)

From: Padme Mostel dunno about yall, but i gotta wonder about one who is the self-proclaimed top economic mind in SL... read the blog... not impressed Anyone who has to say "I'm the best" usually isn't. The best are recognized as such by the community, not by their own declarations. The best economic minds in SL are easy to spot: look at the biggest bank accounts. In other words: the proof is in the pudding, baby.
