You want influence over Stoneself Karuna's domain?

Oh, you mean Philip....

You so silly Lisse. I almost changed that but thought "nah, nobody'll remember his old name." That's the second time I've been wrong this year. Gotta get a grip here.

Blaze, you make an excellent point, we do create the content, and for that we are rewarded monitarily from other players. The code that allows all of this to happen was written by Linden Lab so in all practical senses they made the game/platform and it is theirs. I agree with you that things should be brought up when people feel they are being dealt with unfairly. However the approach is wrong if one is trying to get meaningful change to occur.

For instance, Buck explained the situation in a decent amount of detail however in this explanation he makes several statements that can only be deduced as assumptions without verifiable data.

A) "This person has been suspended at least a dozen times, but due to some "inside" connection always manages to get back in to SL."

We recieved no data backing up this claim in his post. Buck is not a Linden Labs employee and so cannot be certain of an "inside" connection. There are numerous ways a person can get back in to sl once they have been banned. Most common method is to use a different credit card. Not hard to imagine. Thier "inside" connection could very well be another player, not a linden.

There are several other things in Buck's post that are not backed up in the slightest and appear to conflict his own point. This is not to say that they cannot be backed up, only that they have not been. Now of course one of the primary problems here seems to be the lack of data from Linden Labs, which is problematic. One, we cannot make educated guesses without any data from the Lindens, which is often times far harder than it should be to get, but this very well could be caused from the manner in which some of the problems people have get raised.

If I am asking you to fix a problem I am having with a product you produced I can do it one of a number of ways.

"You are out to rip me off, your product doesnt do what it says it does." Obviously this communicates the frustration quite well but also levels accusations which will prompt a negative emotional reaction from the person you are trying to get help from.

"Um, I purchased your product and it doesnt seem to be doing X. I am trying to do X by doing X and X, is this the right way to make this work?" This is a far more agreeable method to use I would think.

So how does this work in the context of what we are discussing. Information is not hard to extract if you ask the right questions in the right context at the right time and with the proper tone. Based on the way the description was handed to us, and the content of the description, we can see the following. Buck is upset, Buck blames the lindens, Buck and friends want the land, Buck and Friends tried numerous times to get the same preferential treatment they are complaining about by soliciting the lindens for land multiple times. In short Buck's response is filled with unverifiable (by us) data, emotional confusion due to a closeness with the situation, damaging insuations and allegations against the Lindens without proper response from the Lidens, or at least without listing the response he did get, and conflicting information. Furthermore he takes company policied handed to Liasons and others who may have the physical ability to terraform land but not the authority to do so as unchangable law. This is not the case, Jeska may very well have the authority to give land to anyone and terraform to an older spec if necessary. Buck does not have Jeska's job description, nor any information on internal policies that may have not been made public (as many SOP's are not) Walk in to best buy and ask to look at their SOP manual, they will not show it to you.

Really all of this should have been summed up with we cannot accurately state that the lindens are acting out of bounds as we are not privy to all of Linden Lab's policies and inner workings.

I apologize, I should have been more specific in what part of the quote I was referring to, I figured it would have been obvious but that is a misjudgement on my part. The part I was referencing was "Control the things you can control, maggot. Let everything else take a flying f**k at you."

Cheers, fun discussion.

PS sorry if the post jumps around a bit, I should stick to shorter posts.
(BTW Buck, I have absolutely nothing against you, just for the record. Nor you Blaze.)
