But if there is one thing more annoying than the lack of a picture of the land - it is when you get a picture of the seller! What is all that about? This puts me right off a piece of land before I even go look at it. This is SO arrogant and egotistical.

Indeed, but SL is all about status and ideals for many isn't it? I guess what people can't be (or can't appear to be) in RL, they try to make up for it in SL. I absolutely agree with you btw. A baron bought some land off me last month and immediately put it up for sale, replacing my well framed snapshot of the land with his advertising banner. Also annoying about scrolling through the land sales list is the dozens of entries beginning with "such and such buys land". If you're looking for waterfront, I guess most people will sort alphabetically and jump to W. How many of those "such and such..." waterfront parcels would've sold more quickly if they'd bothered to describe the land instead of their business intent? I scroll straight past them even when sorting by value. I don't have the time to check map location or TP to all those parcels they apparently have no desire to describe properly in the relevant section.

Interesting thread,
As a pretty new player (probably about 10 days now) to Second Life i have just begun to look at land, and with the amount of land down on the search interface i look down at the pictures before visiting, and sure enough the pictures that actually show the land are the ones that interest me, the ones with buisness logo's i have just been skipping past.

You should definitely buy First Land, it is sold by Governor Linden and is one of the best deals in Second Life. You are only allowed to buy it once, and only if you have never owned land before. $512L for 512 sq meters.

After spending many hours browsing land sales the last couple of months I would say the only thing that REALLY annoys me is when land is mis-described. The last time I was shopping I saw multiple properties listed as "Waterfront" when they were quite far inland.

The way I shop for property now is quite different then when I started. Now I tend to browse the map looking at land then checking prices by clicking on the land, which isn't always great but makes sure I'm shopping in the right regions even if commonly it is out of my price range at that moment. The one other method I shop is by size and price, then I click "map" so I can see the map where it actually is, that saves me from teleporting to a location just to find out it was misadvertised.

absolutly true, i cant stand going to see some land and realizing its surrrounded by tuns of junk that is hardly suitible for a sandbox let alone actual land, by junk i mean hundreds upon undreds of poorly designed freebies, and little cars and are still ramming their way into a building wall, or spinning around in the air. i hope some of you have seen what im talking about

Interesting discussion. personally a picture of a blank lot of land does nothing for me. it's more the description that will get me to look. and now with p2p tp'ing i go to them all.

what buggs me more than anything else is when people buy up land only to resell and then put these HUGE annouying spinning cubes up... and these thing do more than annouy the neighbors of the land your tring to sell, they will hurt your business.

remember... your nieghbors can make or break your land sale. its best not to upset them in the process :)
