Land is not part of the money supply, but it is part of a residents assets. If the US$ she can get for land or cash has dropped, she has suffered what we would normally call a loss. On both.

Yes thanks Ellie for clarifying this. I should have made it clear in my original post, I meant total wealth of subscribers, not necessarily circulating L$ alone. Also by loss, I mean losing the value of your total wealth, not your profit. It doesn't matter if you got your wealth as a gift or payed for it, you are still losing it in US$ terms. In fact, for land owners it's double loss with land prices declining in in L$ terms as well.

..... and yet I log in, I meet my friends, I have fun, build stuff, go places, relax and log off. I think everyone is just making a little too much fuss over the value of the linden.

Sure no biggee--if we can' afford land fees, well all just go to basic accounts. Release all the land back to the Lindens. Then we can all frolick in the big empty world.

So let me get this straight. You don't have any problems, and you are happy. That proves that nobody has any problems and everyone is happy. Right?

No. It proves everyone has taken the world so far overboard that the simplist mundane issues deprive them from what would otherwise be a "happy" world.

I worked in Myrtle Beach,SC USA for two years as a teen ager. It is a tourist town with so many more tourist than residents, that they ship in teen agers to work from other cities. I can tell you that even in a place that is supposed to be fun, many people have to work. I had my fun later from all the money I made in the tourist attraction town. While I was in that town I had almost no fun, because I was working all the time.

Just because Second Life acts as a relaxing fun place to you, does not mean it is overboard for someone else to see the money making potential in a tourist attraction. It is perfectly natural for people to take part in providing you with entertainment, so they can later finance whatever they do themselves for fun elsewhere.

Second Life is a very multi-purpose place. It is not limited to only being a place to have fun.

Ok, so the way you think about SL is correct, and anyone who has any sort of problem is merely thinking incorrectly. Is that it?

Everyone should have the same interests as you, everyone should seek pleasure the same way you do, everyone should enjoy the same things you enjoy, everyone should ignore anything that isn't important to you. If only everyone would just become you, then everyone would be happy!
