Hopes for a rally today are fading as the L$ drifts further and further down.... the L$ has now depreciated 33.6% in the past four months.

How low will it go?

Ding Ding Ding.. Another Down Day for the Linden Dollar.
What happen to the suckers back in March/April who proclaimed
the L$ was going to L$270? We sure are a long way from that mark.

As soon as Linden Labs kills the Stipend, I'll starting buying..

The osteriches have ceased denying the problem. Apparently, their heads have been cut off.

Its so refreshing not to have to listen to mindless babble about how the L$ will go back to L$250 / $1 and how there is no problem.

Just as the days of $2.00 / gallon gasoline are behind us in the Real world, the days of the L$ 250 / $1 USD lindens are behind us.

Get used to $3.00+ gasoline and L$500 / $1 exchange rates.

Let me guess Jonas, you don't buy gasoline in the real world either because you're boycotting it?

It'll stop going down:

a) When people stop panic buying.

b) When people stop creating panic threads on the forums.

c) When trolls stop using their alts to lend support to their views that generally only they hold.

What a lot of people are failing to realise is that the L$ may just now be reaching its true value, and that all along it's been overvalued. Phillip Linden's L$250:$1 value is well known to be a 'starting figure' and not necessarily the true value it would stay at. If that was the case, the open market would never have been opened or allowed to drift this far.

Come to the UK and get used to paying about $6.50 for a gallon of regular. Then you might have something to moan about.

Comparing the US and UK fuel market is just like comparing L$ and US$ value. Two different markets. It's pointless.

I need gasoline to get to work so I can buy food, shelter, medical care. L$ only gives me entertainment which I can go and find for free at my library. BTW, I have a public library within 5 minutes WALKING distance. So, the library is truly free for me.

Oh I'm not moaning. Quite the contrary, I own a lot of oil company stocks IRL. I smile everytime I see on the news that oil hits a new high.

Yes, but compared to other entertainments, it's a good deal. Plus, libraries encourage an educated populace who will make more money and pay higher taxes so my tax burden is relieved somewhat. In other words, libraries pay for themselves.

But the point remains, SL is entertainment. People can make money providing entertainment. But if the costs are too expensive, people will find something else.

Jamie, why do you think flying to Vegas is cheaper than flying to closer places? Why do you think that casino/hotels send shuttles to get you from the airport for free? Why do you think free liquor is served to players on demand? Why do you think that you can pay under $20 for filet mignon and jumbo shrimp and eat as much as you can hold? Why do you think that you can see live shows (with real talent) for a fraction of what it would cost other places? Why do you think you get free chips when you check in at a hotel/casino? Or a free roll of coins?

Do you think they are doing this out of the kindness of their hearts? Or is it because without the lure of cheap food and entertainment, people will not come to Vegas and if they don't come to Vegas, casinos can't extract their money via games?

Come to the US and try surviving without a car. I'm sure you'll find a lot to moan aout as well. We here don't have much of this thing called "public transportation," and places that do have it usually have homeless people and poor stinky types riding on it. We also have to pay stuff like taxes, maintenance, and huge insurance fees to ride in our vehicles, whereas you Europeans can get by fairly well with bus, trolley, ferry, subway, and train tickets. (and I could as well while living there. EuroPass for unlimited monthly transport across all of Switzerland for about $250 franks is a steal compared to what I pay here for my car).

Don't better economies on games like SL encourage artistic expression and creativity?

Damn, you must have got the royal treatment in Vegas.

Last time I was there
(1) I had to pay taxi fare from the airport to the hotel and it wasn't cheap
(2) I had to buy my own drinks
(3) Shows were expensive as hell. I paid over $100 to see Penn & Teller
(4) The food was damn expensive. My steak cost over $40.
(5) I got no free chips.

Please tell me where you were staying!!!!

HAhahahaha..... The Utopians of SL will blow their minds if they
can actually accept that SL isn't perfect and that King Phillip's
policies are at the heart of the problem.

Yup, L$500 has now been added to the
3 things that are guaranteed in life.

Death.
Taxes.
L$500 / US$1 Exchange Rate.

Mostly it's EXTREMELY underdeveloped and underfunded, unlike the European version of it which is clean, fast, and convenient.

Which is a really great alternative to the car. It's more than $6 per gallon her in Germany.

Yeah, I know, you bastards. I've been to Europe on many occasions, and your public transport is one of the many things I envy (aside from your food, art, architecture, internet service, culture, etc.) Don't really like your economy much, but it seems you'll be matching ours soon enough... with us doing most of the matching.

Nearly every major hotel on the strip supplies a shuttle bus to the airport - the most I've paid for one is 1.50

if you play the tables or slots or video poker - drinks are complimentary, even in local bars.

Comp shows are very easy to get - and not all shows are that expensive - cirque might be , but I saw the amazing johnathan for 30 bucks.

Buffets buffets buffets - prime rib and crab legs - all you can eat for 20 bucks.
