I'd like to see something like Mute, but have it act upon the source of audio streams.
Optimally, we could open a dialog, see the last 10 or so audio streams, who owns them, and the name of the object. From there, we could selectively mute the object from sending us any further audio streams, or if we're particularly unhappy with someone, we could mute all audio streams by objects owned by that user.
Additionally, we need the ability to completely flush our audio stream queue. Sometimes I can get 50+ incoming audio streams. Even teleporting doesn't reset the queue, which doesn't make sense becuase we probably aren't going to hear the resulting sounds anyway since we've teleported somewhere else.
I understand that one of LL's biggest expenses is bandwidth. I'd be willing to bet they could reduce their bandwidth use by a double-digit percentage by implementing selective audio stream muting and audio queue flushing, and make a lot of happy people in the process.

Agreed, this feature is definitly needed, I've had 200+ incoming audio streams at one point, AND my audio was muted.

Oh, but those Simpsons audio emotes are so entertaining. The 100th time you've heard them they lose none of their poignancy or humor. And personally I like hearing the latest top 40 with skips every 10 seconds - adds a dynanism to otherwise conventional meter.

Yes, please!
It can be pretty annoying to sit at an event and hear the same duck quack for 45 minutes, or have the white noise of your neighbor's waterfall on all the time.

From: someone Originally posted by Green Fate YES! PLEASE! rt click + mute this object audio... Hiya Green =) I originally suggested a list of the 10 most recent, because sometimes you don't know where it's coming from. Unfortunately there's no SOUND type for sensors yet =P

It would also be nice to not hear audio from sims you aren't in. I can see how at Stage 4 its nice for show and tells (maybe) but in the other sims its not necessary.

Nothing like flying by someones' badly written jukebox and gettin 600+ incoming audio streams seriously... i think there really needs to be a direct control for the number of incoming streams you will 'accept' (not unlike many web-browsers or file sharing utilities have for the number of active connections to maintain).. aka i can set say 'three' and then it will only let up to three audio streams queue, anything else new incoming will simply be discarded until one of those three is finished and the next one can begin. either that or a TOTALLY discrete network slider for 'audio' where we could set 2k/s or somethin nice'n tiny

I'll add my voice to this. In my experience, about half the crashes I experience come from the SL client not handling corrupted audio streams properly.

This is a great idea. Sometimes I mouse over the speaker and see something like 70 streams!!! Ludicrous!!!

I wonder how many pages back the Lidens read in this forum? I know they are super busy and not able to respond to most threads. And honestly I would not expect them to respond to many of the suggestion threads at all. But wouldn't it be nice to see a Sticky list from the Lindens that has a list of Features they have read about here and what their status may be? Like: XXX suggestion - under discussion XXX suggestion - top priority XXX suggestion - under discussion XXX suggestion - probably will never happen XXX suggestion - working on for next patch Or something like that? I for one would love to see a list like that just to know if what we have suggested has at least been read and noted.

From: someone Originally posted by Maxx Monde I'm being a smartass, so I immediately thought of:
XXX suggestion - *Philip bursts into spontaneous laughter with the rest of the development team*
XXX suggestion - 'Sure, just give us 50 years....*chortle*'
XXX suggestion - That's just sick, really. No, don't resubmit it.
XXX suggestion - 'Mile-high billboard protocol, or MHBP, will be immediately implemented!!'
Sorry, I had to -- and for the record, the support from 'Team Linden' (tm)(c)(r) is still the best I've seen anywhere.
Just having fun, its a good suggestion Pendari. hehe jus don forget eltee Statosky suggestion - DAMNIT why don't you go pester ATI for a change and leave us alone! its not like *WE* were dumb enough to buy one of those cards

At least we get some kinda feedback to our questions or suggestions there. I wish we had them more often, or if a similar response were given to all of the posts in the Feature Suggestions forum. Even if it's usually just "Thanks for the idea, we'll bring it up in our next meeting", at least you know someone on the LL team has read it =) PS: I'd hope they would take the time to gather up all the feature suggestions and at least bring up some of them in meetings, so that the Lindens who don't have time to read through the forums can get a chance to hear about them so that the ideas may be considered.
