Hello everyone! I'm here to announce a new public group in Second Life, "Aware of the SL Issue Tracker". This is a continuation of my older group which promoted the feature voting tool (announced at /13/e9/134248/1.html). Here is the group charter : ------------------------------- BEGIN QUOTE -------------------------------- This group exists to promote awareness of the Second Life Issue Tracker at jira.secondlife.com. The JIRA Issue Tracker is a good place to send bug reports and feature requests to Linden Lab. It replaces the older feature voting tool (FVT) at secondlife.com/vote. Please note that this group's IMs/notices are not for advertising specific proposals. Rather, this group exists so you can help advertise the JIRA Issue Tracker itself via your profile, thus encouraging other residents to use it. ------------------------------- END QUOTE ----------------- The group's goals, as stated above, are : 1) To encourage residents to use the Issue Tracker at jira.secondlife.com. 2) To encourage Lindens to listen to resident feedback on the Issue Tracker. 3) To be a badge, worn in your profile, that says you are proud to have contributed by using the Issue Tracker. This is a group intended for residents, though we do have a few Linden members. Please don't bug the Linden members about the group, they're probably busy enough as it is. The group IM channel probably shouldn't be used for anything at all except for discussions relevant to the Issue Tracker as a whole. That means no spamming to get people to vote for your favorite proposal, and no notices about your club/event/etc. This simple rule is in place to ensure that the group doesn't get spammed. Thank you for your time in reading this, and for supporting the idea!

You invited me to join this group. I was unable to join this group because I have my 25 group slots filled.
Hopefully there is a Jira proposal to increase the number of groups or better yet add a new category of membership entity that uses less resources than current groups do.
You know, if Linden Lab really wanted people to be aware of and use the Jira system, they could add a large piece of text on the interface, maybe all the way across the top of the screen below the File Edit etc. menu, that says "Click here to use the Issue Tracker!" which would take you straight to the Issue Tracker, pre-logged in, in the in-viewer mozilla browser, with presets to display issues one has created, voted for, commented on, etc.
In what manner would this group encourage people to use the Issue Tracker?

I really like this idea, and it might well be doable. If you make a jira issue for this suggestion, I'll vote it up.

Stickied this as part of general Issue Tracker awareness, thanks Angel for being so enthusiastic about this. I do believe the Issue Tracker should be more obvious on a number of fronts. Currently, that's not as simple as I'd like it to be, because we've previously had instances where it was used heavily and performance crawled. E.g., https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-107So, we (and I know Rob Linden has specifically been working on this) have to increase the Issue Tracker's reliably under mass load. Thanks for your interest.
