That's right, the title of this thread is Wang. I'm sure we all know what that means, so I'll get right down to business. I think the male av should have a wang. Females get to have breasts, with nips and everything, and the other naughty bits are a texture map away (mons venus is already there), so why should guys have to resort to attaching some crudely-built object? (I've seen a few of these, they are never going to be on the same level as a full mesh.) Doesn't seem equitable to me.

You'd need a slider to morph it between "deployed" and the standard male "crotch" shape for times when the avatar is clothed, and another one to select degree of anteater or mushroom. (I'm sure you know the deal.)

I know this may be somewhat controversial, but if you're going to give the ladies the ability to fully define their privates, you owe the gentlemen the same courtesy, without making them all look like nullos.

I second that suggestion! Everyone on here is *supposed* to be over 18 anyway.. right? And fully 1/2 of the world has a RL version of this... so, whats with the Ken crotch?

First off, female breasts are not considered genitalia. Breasts have an entirely different practical function (and I speak from personal experience on this subject). We have turned the female breast into a taboo object to be covered in our society. I'm not disputing the fact that female breasts are imbued with a sexual connotation, but in practical copulation-related terms, they are "window dressing" and not the "main attraction."

Second, I wonder if LL's is avoiding some sort of legal ramificitions by not making avatars completey anatomically correct, genitalia-wise. I know that there is a different rating standard for movies which show breasts as opposed to full frontal nudity (male or female). Could something like this apply to MMOG's, as well?

Third, I say if men want their avatars to have, um, "a realistic member" included in the starting avatar and there are no foreseeable difficulties on the Lindens' end of it, then by all means, you should have what you want. Just remember to keep your virtual fly closed.

There's no official ratings systems for games in place but there is one in place. I don't think SL has a rating by them though. The ESRB.


If SL was rated by them, they need only visit the Penis of Grief temple to give us a pretty mature rating.


I would imagine the two reasons SL guys don't have wangs is because it's an un-neccesary detail. Also I imagine none of the SL art team is openly gay or female and don't want to spend several days making a fully customizable wang.

ya, right! you *do* realize they are based in SF... chances are they have someone who is gay. they definately have someone who is female. and who says str8 men wouldnt want the option to have an anatomically correct, and customizable avatar.

Breasts are considered naughty bits in this society. It is illegal to bare them. There are other places in the world where men and women bare their privates and it is considered normal, but these are usually limited to aboriginal cultures and nudist beaches. And French television commercials.

I also don't consider a wang to be an unnecessary detail, any more than having two independent breasts rather than just a vaguely bra-shaped protrusion on which to texture a shirt. I see dames walking around m-sims topless all the time, so accurate naughty bits must be of use to some people.

I do not plan to strut around m-sims with my wang out, but I've been to plenty of hot tub parties where guys have had to resort to attaching crude models. As far as Lindens not wanting to model these, that's on them I guess, I wouldn't bat an eye if it was my job.

Anatomically correct characters; that would be a first wouldn't it? At least for a game developed outside of Japan.

Call me crazy but our "inadequacy" does have a slight psychological effect I think. At the risk of being branded a degenerate pervert (I'm not degenerate) from what I've seen female avatars can at least appear correct in the important ways. Males have no hope outside of prosthetics.

Sex exists in SL. Oh yes. It doesn't really make sense for the Linden's not to acknowledge it since there is nudity. It would be pretty simple I think to remove nudity and have the basic AV wearing no less than bikinis.

The truth? No matter how saintly folks are, throw a bunch of naked people together and sooner or later sex pops up .. well, it doesn't pop up in SL exactely, but you know what I mean

Anyway, with the gestures being what they are (and I don't believe any magical new anime's for 1.1 will solve this) sex is a good 80% erotic visual setting. As things are now, guys are, how do I put this politly, visually inadequate? Not all that exciting to look at? A collection of horrible war wounds? Androids?

I think the whole breats issue is kinda silly in and of it self censorship wise.

Hypothosis: Topless women being under different rules than topless men is not equality.

1) Anything but the nipple is ok on a woman. (from a legality standpoint, and then thats pusing an "R" Rating).

2) Anything above the waist is fine on a male (Including previously mentioned Taboo nipple)

Compiled information: Since we all know what a nipple looks like, and anything but the nipple is 'acceptable' (See some recently produced simsuits for example heh) then nothing is realy left to the imagination in this department anyhow. Well, avatars are ornamental too, no? We don't NEED infinately customizable avatars, but they sure make SL nicer. The real disscussion here is if visible mail (and female?) genitallia would make SL nicer.

Would there be a slider for circumcized/uncircumcized? I fully agree with you, but not too sure about the "deployability" - too much chance for griefing. I can just see the message now...
