Kelly, (Or whoever reads this from LL, though I hope someone mentions this thread to her).
In response to this /139/8f/161570/1.html in Linden Answers, let me address the problem that, apparently, LL does not see.
Search, using the PLACES tab (not Classified as you mentioned in your reply), is useless. Places are only searched by the land title, not what is in the description. Thus, a store named Store will only show in in the Search if "Store" is entered. That the store sells shoes, clothes, cars, bikes, and doodads will not show in search if searched for "shoes","Clothes", "cars", "bikes", or "doodads". Only by "Store".
This makes it extremely hard to find PLACES in SL. CLASSIFIEDS is actually avoided by most people I know because it is simply a money game. Those with the most money start at the top, which is a very poor way to value buisnesses. (ie by the money spent on adds).
I personally pick places to do buisness at by;
1) The traffic. The better the product, the more visit (Depending on camping devices which inflate traffic. These places usually lose my buisness as I see the camping devices as a means of false advertisement.)
2) How thier description is written. Sytax as well as content, and how they explain what they are selling/offering.
FYI, I have never used Classifieds, and I never will.
Now, that the problem has been explained, here's my Feature Suggestion:
I Suggest that LL use the Description of the parcel in the Search criteria for the Places tab in Search. A secondary Suggestion would be to enact a new field of more limited characters than the Description. Naming this new field of like "Search Criteria" or something meanifully simular. This will allow people to pick the Name of thier parcel they wish, while still showing properly in Search by what the parcel offers/sells.
If you have any more questions on how functions in SL are actually used by the Residents, feel free to IM me in-world, or PM me here on the forums. I'd be happy to explain how I, and my friends, use the functions/features.
