I would like more flexibility in how textures are wrapped around objects. For example, I don't like how textures wrap around hemispheres. The fact that the texture is stretched toward the poles makes it very hard to put detailed textures on. Also, a simple way to paint textures directly onto objects in world would be great. Even if it cost the standard ten dollars.

along the same lines, I'd like to be able to change the texture mapping from say, spherical mapping, to rectangular, to cylindrical mapping. Although it is highly useful to be able to change U/V/texture rotation on the model, it is often difficult to line up certain textures with certain types of models (such as Zindorf discusses) without having this option.
