Me too! Let's talk about it here -- not just how do we become more efficient, but what are the Res Mods, along with the rest of the forum community, thinking about the posting guidelines now that you've had some time to try to enforce them?

That is why this thread was in General. Perhaps, Robin thought it was important enough for the general forum.

Hey! Robin put this thread in general!

Don't you think you had best leave it there?

This is getting absurd!

I think the thread best belongs here in Feature Suggestions, not all of the trolls travel to this forum :P

This wouldn't have to be part of the forums, it could be run on a different server and the entries in it's database could be created by the emails that Mods get.

Coco, i read your post in the ResMod open forum and it was on my mind when coming up with this.

The issue that was in my mind, was that some people get away with all sorts of stuff and it seems that disiplinary action agaisnt said individuals has either been non existant or ineffective. As a ResMod its frustdrating. The best way to know who needs punishing is to keep records.

I didn't think to add the last checkbox when writing it...
CODE

Needs Linden Review [ ]
Asign points? [x]
Are you emotionaly involved / biased? [ ]
  1. Each case is subjective
    1. point overages only flag the users account, they don't cause automatic action
    2. Points don't have to be asigned (checkbox)
    3. radio buttons adjust how many points can be assigned
      1. The best way (to figure out what the point values should be) would be to run the system for a month and collect statistics on how each radio box is used then set the point equations; and periodicly adjust them. Heck the system could automaticly adjust it self.
      2. No point system is going to be perfect; its intended to be an aid in the process; not the entire process.

  2. While yes such a system could be used to falsely generate records against individuals, it would be difficult for a number of reasons.
    1. No matter how many times a post is abuse reported it only gets one review page.
    2. Multiple resmods can review a post; the worst review for the post would be removed.
      1. This also allows for the ResMods to talk about a thread and gain a better understand of how to apply the rules with direct access to the post and ARs. This will improve the overall quality of the ResMods and encourage more even Moderation.

    3. Lindens have the final say as to what points are to be asigned.
      1. Basicly anyone resmod with a grudge would be overruled and ignored by the system. If the lindens don't like you, your aready screwed.

  3. In the short term a user can be bad, and not be flagged by the system. In the long term if a user is bad, they should be flagged. A user that is continuously bad, is bad for the community.
    1. Alot of users curse some of the time, and nothing happens, some users curse all the time, and nothing happens. This system could catch the worst offenders of the minor rules.
    2. People have bad days, while breaking the rules is a bad thing, it can be excused in the short term.

The one problem I see in this, is it doesn't take into account how much time people spend on the forums.

Maybe a multiplier could be used to take this into account.
Or "Percentage of Posts asigned points in the last month"

I don't see my self a busy-body, its too much work to be a busy-body and requires too much time.
