My apologies for posting in the wrong area. That is why I put the disclaimer :)

You apologize, yet I don't see you deleting your post. So which is it - are you actually sorry for posting in the wrong place, or is your apology disingenuous?

Your post actually made me laugh.
"Stand Strong America" (?)
I'm not exactly sure why I find that funny, but I do. Nothing to do with the 'America' part, just the image it brings up for me - like a cartoon.

I predict that this thread will last beyond 150 replies and will not be locked until at least the day after Easter. And, since no one has said it yet...

So he admits he's a troll...

That's a pretty big stretch in my opinion. :) It may be true this thread is posted in the wrong forum. It's obviously a subject not too popular with many here (at least from the responses so far). And, yes, it's much more a statement and request to others to take a look at a particular website. Plus not a real question at all.

However, I see many threads that contain no question to be answered by residents posted here. Wonder how many hostile responses a thread would get if it was requesting support for "Relay for Life" (we get several of those a year here). There's no shouting about "what, exactly, is the question?"........though there is no question at all in the initial thread post. Sure, it's a much more popular subject and so much easier to put in your enthusiastic "yeah, yeah".......but, it's the same type of thread. No question.....just a statement and request.

My suggestion is if you don't like the subject and can't think of an intelligent response then pass it by........ignore it. Calling it a troll only makes it become a forum brawl. Which you are the one creating that fight. Disaggree all you want but be respectful (as the OP has been so far). Spouting venonous rhetoric and calling names always creates fights and arguments.

Be smart all you "enlightened" folks..........come up opinions pro or con.........but be polite. And it would be nice if you were consistant in what you deem as threads that are inappropriate for this forum. If this thread needs locking or moving, then all the others that contain no real question should be too. If you are going to demand strict adherence to a rule then you cannot cherry pick the ones where you happen to not aggree with.

Again,I put a disclaimer at the beginning of this thread for a reason. If the moderators/admins consider this thread needs to be moved/deleted, i will respect their decision.
Again,I apologised for it seems posting in the wrong area.
So as far as I am concerned, the subject of the wrong board is over and done with.
Thank you

nice one about the cartoon :)
I don't think anyone of us actually thought of it when we were voting, but now that you make me think,it would make a great cartoon image.Gives me a few ideas ;) :)

Also, like I said,in my opinion, being disrespectful only hurts the person that is being disrespectful.

Hahaha...........why? Because you don't want to see a forum fight? Or, is it because you don't want to read opinions or views contrary to yours? I think its the latter. :)

It's easy to "lock" the thread for yourself........"ignore" it.

You're right that some postings which may not really belong here do at times get a better response. Most people have a soft spot for some non-profit organizations like "Relay for Life". After all, sickness affects us all - there are no borders...

A political group based in one country that _may_ interest part of it's population in SL is not as likely to illicit as much interest or understanding.

Personally, it wasn't so much what he wrote about, but the matter in which he did.
"Is this the right place blah, blah, blah... I apologize blah, blah, blah."
It just seemed as if he already knew the answer and didn't much care. Which is fine, whatever.

If he chooses to post anyway, then others can choose to reply in any matter they wish, (hopefully without lashing out or being nasty). Maybe by answering and stating their views about which threads should or should not be posted, 'Resident' s will be able to find an 'Answer'.

I think this thread is a good example of a need for a separate "groups" forum. To be fair to the OP, there isn't really a good place to announce new inworld groups that don't have an associated Resident Run Website. Events might cover it, but unless they are planning an event beyond having a group, that isn't really appropriate either.

So, let us call the question we Residents need answer this: "Where should the OP go to post this?"

I was here in 2004, and I posted in more than a few political threads in the old "Sandbox" forum. Respectful political discussions in SL turn nasty very quick. And that is all I'm gonna say about that.

Because US citizens reside in other countries(France,UK,Germany,Iraq and so forth),it is much more international than US territory only
And again, for the last time, after looking on forums and not finding an appropriate place, I decided to post on these boards. And that is why I put the disclaimer

Really, people do get to be conservatives.

The hatred and name calling of some of the people in this thread - almost IMMEDIATELY - just because the person said he is conservative and starting a conservative group - is really off the wall.

i agree; many of the u.s. generals and military personal express themselves as conservative, but are against the war (or against really really stupid people). the sad part is that they obeyed the orders of really really stupid people to begin with, and historically this comes about from blindly doing what one is told - a conservative trait.

'kneejerk' reactions are ugly - but have also historically been a good defense against really, really stupid people. :\

i am hoping this is the last year i have to waste my money paying taxes into a godforsaken, incredibly baseless war that is only agitating the rest of the world against all of us. i have been below poverty-line many years of my life, living simply, not needing much. having any of my money spent against my wishes - well, conservatives for years have been bitchin' about that. but i've been living it.

Threads can be reported by clicking on the red triangle in the bottom left of any individual post.

Although I am posting a reply here, and this will cause a bump, if people refrain from posting now, this thread will be on page three pretty quickly and die.

Honestly though - "Stand Strong America"? Does that not make you roll your eyes? I am not terribly exercised by what you residents of the United States wish to argue about, myself, but _really_.

A good point, Coco. After the past eight years, Republican bashing is a pretty popular sport. I'd have to say "understandably so." Still, this really isn't the place for it.

To the OP (since this thread is already here and most people aren't going to want to follow a link for more information), what branch of Conservatism does your group represent? Libertarian Conservatism? Christian Conservatism? Neo-Conservatism? Just saying that you support "conservative values" is rather meaningless. Modern Conservatism covers a very wide range of values, many of them completely contradictory depending on where you sit in the Republican tent. You'll probably find a lot of Libertarian leaning folks about (plenty of Ron Paul supporters I'm sure), probably not many "Christian Right" types, and admitting to Neo-Conservatism is likely get you tarred and feathered.

Anyway, good luck with your group. I hope it will be respectful of SL's large GLBT, non-religious, and hedonist communities. Personally, after the debacle of the past eight years, I think the Republican party should be forced to go sit quietly in the time out chair for the next 10-20 years, but that's just me. ;)

Sort of like supporting "progressive values" when talking about Modern Liberalism, isn't it? :)

Thank you for your polite and constructive reply.
We are what you would call "true conservatives". Many of us were involved in the Fred Thompson presidential campaign. After he left the race and because many of the conservatives were/are not happy with the way the campaign went on the GOP side, a few of us decided to take action and try to work on bringing the GOP back to its conservative roots. This is a long term effort.
It will be way too long to explain in details our stand on the issues,so if you are interested, please visit our download page to read about our stand.

As far as your concern about relations with other groups, you don't need to worry.
We may disagree with people on different issues, however we respect each person/group difference of opinion/lifestyle.Each group/lifestyle has the right to express their views/opinions,from the moment it is done politely and respectfully.

Thank you again for your polite and constructive reply
