Do you like (or get along with) other avitars?

Some people I know have a possitive experiance in SL, make friends, and get along with most of the people they meet. Others have complained that their fellow avitars are (in general) unfriendly, snobs, chidish, cliqueish and so on.

I've met a few cranks, weirdos and pests, but the overwelming majority of avitars I've met have been friendly and helpful.

How about you?

Yes. I find I get along with those who don't get along with each other. And while I wish everyone could get along (and it's okeydokey to disagree respectfully), I'm thankful for what I do have. :)

Just about everybody I've met has turned out to be an outstanding, beautiful person. I could count the exceptions on one hand. I feel perpetually honored to be able to rub shoulders with the folks in this game.

Yes the general population of Second Life are easy to get along with even when we're being grumpy and argumentative. That's been true since I joined and it's always rather amazed me that it's remained true as the world grew and grew.

Even the couple of avs that I haven't gotten on famously with have generally been polite about keeping our distance. In both cases I was a constant source of pain and agony according to them. Oh I was also a complete cad for not being able to understand what the problem was. Staying out of their way is not hard though. It puts me in a very large crowd of very good company.

Until yesterday, I had never, in two-and-a-half years, muted or ignored anybody. It still seems strange to me to pretend like someone just no longer exists. But it was either that or back away from SL. People have told me they left because they felt miserable reading the forums and logging in; now I know that feeling. The jury's still out on whether this ignoring routine works for me. It very much goes against my grain.

I stick with SL because I separate the forums and the in-world experience. I generally don't find people in-world running around pontificating about shitty builds, land barons, Ms. Chung, etc. Here in the forums, we all get on our soap boxes about everything. So yes, I get along with about 95% of the avatars I come in contact with in-world.

What is fun for me is running into someone in-world that I've skewered on the boards (or vice-versa). Surprisingly, those experiences have been enjoyable and point to the fact that most people respect differences of opinion and can focus on common interests.

Treat everyone as you would like to be treated. If they react in kind, that's wonderful. If they are dickweeds, then we can go on our merry way and hopefully never have to run across them again.

If they are unwittingly annoying, simple, yet gentle honesty seems like a good policy.

I get along with almost everyone. But I won't tolerate cruelty or rudeness, if I feel it is in any way intentional.

There are very few people I've met in SL that I didn't like. Which is odd, cuz I generally don't like people at all in RL.

Then again, I meet more Individuals in SL than I do in RL, and fewer Groups, and I respect and appreciate Individuals far more than Groups.

(Except that David guy.. don't get me started on him.)

Treat everyone as you would like to be treated.

I get abuse reported everytime I try that.

I've been here 2 weeks or so (maybe 3, the days and nights are now a blur :) ) and I haven't muted anyone and have rated a lot of people positively. Like many others, I find people in SL a joy to be around. Shopkeepers are polite and helpful (and several of them have even customised designs for my avie on the spot, which really surprised me), players at parties or Tringo contests are there to have fun and a good time is had by all.

I've been contimuously playing online in all kinds of massively multiplayer games since the launch of Everquest (early '99) and the SL community is by far the more generally mature and pleasant to be around. You guys rock!

who?

oooh, khamon, tell us who ya muted, k? :)

wait, that's not right....

I have found every single one us to be the rottenest meanest person in existence, and that includes me.

No, that's not what I meant to say either.

I find that some folks seem nice and some seem kinda hard to get along with. Kinda like real life only complicated by the problem of communicating though a system that has no emotional cues except for that which one displays deliberately. I suspect that in many cases one's perception of another avatar as being hard to get along with is probably more a matter of one's current mental and emotional state rather than an accurate reflection of the other person.

For the most part y'all are fine.

I've found the people I've met to be very nice and decent people. I could probably count with the fingers of one hand the people I don't like and have several fingers left over. Of course, I'm saving the middle finger for someone special :D

Every damn time I sign on to the grid, there's always someone going "Hi! Great to see you! Nice to meet you! Come and play!" What the hell is the matter with you people? Didn't anyone tell you that you're all supposed to hate me on sight?

hehe.. Some of ya'lls posts are cracking me up in this thread!! :D

I pretty much get along with everyone. There are a couple of people I don't, but I have friends that like those people. I'm not one to tell another who they can and cannot like. Most that I have met in SL are really nice. Even nice to weirdos like me! :p

I like pretty much everyone. The exception would be, for example, some of the people who have been acting out in the WA. But even there, it is not that I dislike the person, so much as I dislike the behavior. I know that's a cliche, but it's true. Those people in another mileau can doubtless be quite likeable.

I have no problem with avatars, it's the agents that get my goat.

I have LOADS of friendship cards, too many of them even to read in one swoop, too many IMs even to answer, and I'm enormously popular and outgoing and everybody loves me!

Many people say the entire sim lights up when I arrive.

More than a few note they first acquired their fondness for me from the forums.

I've had to fend off more than my share of crushes, and I get so many flowers delivered I have to start a greenhouse.

Many avatars like me and say "Hello, Avatar!" to me as a matter of course. And I like them, too, except for Those Few And They Know Who They Are.
