I suppose if everyone ran around and bought the same outfit for all they alts it might could work. But if you believe there are 40K ACTIVE members, please see the post above about the bridge.

That number has become LL chapter and verse, (always 40K loged in in past 30 days :) ) as is the $160K being made in SL in '05 - and some of us just don't hanker to sittin' by as these half-truths keep getting reHashed. Hell before too much longer we'll all end up believers!

But alas, the emperor has to wear them new clothes.

Obviously, SL is in need of expanding its marketing campaign. Word of mouth just isn't cutting it anymore. Since now, they've placed the land services in the hands of the land barons, the Lindens should beable to concentrate on marketing along with bug fixing. I have concerns for LL's future as they haven't vested enough in selling to their market.

True enough, there's been slashdot and such, but that only courts a few interested people. At this rate, I can't see LL surviving another 4-5 years without their market expanding to other users.

As the saying goes, need to spend money to make money.

In any case, for people to say they make that much in-world, they often don't post about how much its costing them. Speculation is easy :).

BTW ppl are assuming that all of anshes land is bringing in income, it's not. Look around, how many for sale signs do you see? How many of her sims are completly full? I would say it's not the land barons making the big bucks. Nor is it the content creators. Who is? LL.

Have a nice day :)

People aren't going to join SL because of something they saw in some banner ad.

People are going to join SL because it fundamentally does something they want it to do and all the marketing in the world ain't going to make that happen.

All basis so far that people have made for anshe's income (which, by the way, I think this whole topic of "how much does anshe make" is hilarious because it's been brought up so many times) is based on per month selling. I would make a logical assumption and say that once anshe sells land, she will look to buy more, right? So it's possible she's selling her tier more than once a month?

In addition, Cat... your assertion is faulty. Just because you see lots of for sale signs doesn't mean they are or are not moving. Even if they stayed there for 2 weeks at a time - that's a double turnover of land sales per month!

Now, if you said that you've seen the same for sale signs for a long time at the same places, well, that's a different story.

How about Kermitt (Quirk)? Tringo is still selling to new people...

Good point, Lisse. With his RL royalties (if you can include those), he'll be making quite a bit.

Well until someone releases their financials we are all just presuming; we are correct in what we think. So lets not argue about things we don't have full disclosure on ok Hiro.

We could both be wrong, who knows. Maybe one of use will be privy to that information at some point and realy get into the numbers. Until such a time I don't realy want to speculate. I can only say that there is an abundance of for sale signs for at least the last 6 months. If they are turning a profit more power to them. Lets just say for grins however that they are making 195 per month profit on each sim they own. That would mean that no plot ever goes unrented for any extended amount of time. Wanna fly up to the new contenient and see how many plots are not rented right now? The only way to realy know the facts is from the source. We just don't have those.

Fallacy - appeal to ignorance.

You just did, though. You said that Anshe's got tons of signs up and that meant she wasn't making much sales. Ergo, I disputed your statement with a possibility that you did not assert could exist.

Whatever, it's moot now; you agree that we can't know. My point was largely that it is in realm of possibility.

thanks for that link. i'm going to email it to all the athiests i know.

btw,
hiro is correct. land traders always do their best to replenish their stock of land when it sells. so it will always appear as if they have tons of land for sale. it's like going to walmart and seeing full shelves and hypothesizing that they aren't selling anything - that's just preposterous

Ok I'm sorry I wasn't more clear. Let me try again :)

When I see no noticeable balance shift between the land for sale and the land that is sold. I do not see how that is making a profit.

She continues to pay for new land after selling old land. So her profits what ever they may be appear to me to be reinvested in her land venture.

Which ultimatly means to me that once you take away the overhead of the new land costs, there is little cash left. Profit in my book is cash in my hand at the end of the month.

They'll just laugh at you for your own logical fallacy. If someone thinks it could potentially be possible but remains unconvinced they are not a believer, ergo they are an atheist (a "weak atheist" or "agnostic atheist" if you want to get technical about it). Sorry for the brief hijack, but that bit of ignorance always twists my knickers.

the athiests i know firmly disbelieve in god. where i am from, what you are describing is called an agnostic. the ignorance with your hijack is you are categorizing my athiests when you haven't even met them. sorry to make you defensive about your existential conundrum.

We should really continue this in off-topic ;) But I'll make this really simple for you and then bow out... belief is binary. It's either on or off. 1 or 0. If you believe there is a god, you're a theist. If you do not, for whatever reason, you're an atheist. Agnosticism is a type of atheism. I am not categorizing your atheists without having met them. I'm correcting your misunderstanding of the word "atheist." Most atheists are agnostic atheists. All agnostics are atheists. Their binary switch is still in the "off" position despite any politically correct semantic games.

Logic / Logic fallacies and Religeon - have nothing to do with each other.

If the core of religeon is faith - the whole use of Logic to prove or disprove it is counter productive.

Besides I dont agree with the originally assertion Hiro made that its a fallacy claiming ignorance in the original topic of the thread -

Simply put - ANY comments made about Anshe's income are speculation. Only Anshe and her accountant would definitely know for sure. And would be in her best interest not to answer IMO.
