Turning game objects into real objects

I haven't been on the forums in ages, but I just read about something that seemed both very cool and relevant to SL, so I figured I'd post about it.

There's a way to capture a scene from a game by intercepting the OpenGL calls to the video card and then importing the 3D data into a CAD program. From there it's possible to fabricate a physical replica of an object that previously existed only in the game. Check it out:

A while back there was a discussion about the fact that it was impossible to absolutely prevent people from duplicating your objects in SL, since a determined person could always use data from the video card. Well, here's a proof of that concept.

Well, you're a touch late, but I give you credit for posting that up:

The tech doesn't work remarkibly well for Second Life, unfortunately. Regardless, it's a step in the right direction... and hauntingly close to my own project.

PS, anyone who calls Blender a "CAD product" should be shot. It does so much more than pretend to be AutoCAD.
