Does anybody know the policy of liasons having Alts?? are they allowed to purchase land for cheap ( using scanners, etc ) and then what happens if there is a dispute?

LOL.. well this doesn't have to be a drama thread. I have often been curious about what a Linden can/can't do with their alt... especially since some liasions have come from being residents first.

Robin posted a list of what liasons can or cannot do a while ago, but basically:

- Linden alts have no privlidges over other ordinary paying members.
- Lindens cannot use GOM
- Lindens cannot move L$ between their main and alt accounts.
- Lindens cannot join as an officer any group.

and how do they know who their alt is??

Ip logs, CC info, Addresses etc...

well I have more than one cc.....and different email addresses....too many 'strange' coincidences happening in SL. Anybody agree??

Oh come on, out with it if you have something to say in public, which I presume you do since you're posting here and not taking up your concerns privately with Philip or Robin. Just last night I was minding my own business and I saw land for sale. The person selling the land had the first name "Joe"

Someone DOES need to look into this.

We have no way of knowing, unless they let something slip which reveals it.

Whats worse, LL have no way of knowing, or banning people, that is reliable, practical, and can't accidentally implicate innocent people.

It basically concludes they can't afford to do it except perhaps in occasional exceptional cases. This I think is the real reason we see little action against alts of a misbehaving avi.
It just aint possible/practical to find them from looking at the database. Need corroborative information.

Don't know whether this is the sort of thing that is being referred to...but there is a parcel of land for sale in Mallard owned by Governor Linden set for sale to a particular person for 1$

For those puzzled by Sasi's shyness, I'll risk guessing what she means.

I think she's talking about the person who bought her plot for a fraction of its value. Taking advantage of a price set in error. She's cross that the Lindens will not reverse the transaction, as she believes they have in other similar situations, or even discuss it.

It now looks like maybe shes hinting that the buyer may be the alt of a Linden, and that this is the explanation (ie preferential protection).

I think thats the hint, I may be wrong.

Those are set to sale after someone wins an Auction with RL money, they set it to $1L so they don't charge the person in Linden after they've already charged their card.

That just about sums it up Ellie....thank you. LL has know of the problems people have had with the release land button and selling land, yet they do nothing about it....it has gone on for 2-3 years. After speaking with several Lindens I'm convinced they are profiting from our losses using their alts or 'helping a friend' when there is a dispute.
I love SL but have absolutely no trust or faith in Lindens since my incident. I can't really go into details but until you people have to deal with Lindens to get any help...you will not understand. Unless of course you are a personal friend of theirs. It's time for LL to step off their thrown and defend the HONEST people in here instead of themselves. This whole situation could have been easily handled by freezing my land sale until they investigated it.
Instead....the Linden that was there when this happened said for me to work it out with the new buyer. HA. So I lost a 30208m for 8960 L$....now ...you people tell me they arent profiting from this?? This has to stop....if anybody would like to speak to me in game about this please do. We need to all work together and change this type of behavior.....it is not right. PERIOD. So let's further refine this.

A Linden alt, who we'll call Alty Altman, was using his super power god-moded Linden Landscanner. Intent on victimizing the population he is sworn to protect, Alty discovered a plot for sale at a low price and decided, of course, to snatch it up!

Immediately, Alty put out the word via the LindenNet cybernetic communications implant network that the evil deed was done. Circling the wagons, other Lindens moved to protect Alty and his transaction. The Shafting of the Newb was complete.

Now, maybe, to certain minds, the above explanation seems both plausible and lucid. But let me ask a question or two...

Perhaps, Alty, being also a Linden, would know other Lindens. Perhaps these other Lindens would know of perfectly usable land that was about to be set for auction, but which could instead be given to Alty to thank him for his loyal service and dedication.

I dunno, it seems to me that if a Linden wanted land for their alt, there would be many more effective means of scoring the same that did not involve land scanning and conspiracy to defraud.

Maybe.

Linden Lab, rather than relying on revenue from the set up and maintenance of island properties, tier levels and monthly membership costs...

Linden Lab is selling the land which they release and control... to... themselves? Via accidents? Huh?

So rather than collect a whole lot of monthly tier from you on a large plot of land... Linden Lab... wants to buy land... from themselves... using the money... that they themselves mint and distribute?

I am sure alot of ALTS will be replying to this post defending the Lindens. If any of you think I was treated fairly.....do not expect a response from me. I will not argue with you....not worth my time.

I'm not worth your time because I fail to see how Linden Lab paying itself fake money that itself issues for land that itself owns is making them a profit?

Listen, I felt bad for you initially, but at this point you've vaporized any credibility you may have had. This is a silly discussion and I encourage you not to say anything else like it publicly. It's embarassing.

Anyway, hang out near a GOM ATM on Sundays and you'll see me cashing out at some point during the evening. I too have heard it said, as reported by Adam, that Lindens can't use GOM -- nor should they have that opportunity. Talk about insider trading. Glad I'm not so bound.

Anyone who seriously in their heart of hearts beleives there is any truth in the popular running joke that I am actually Philip Lindens alt account, is in a unique position to be able to tongue kiss their own prostate.
