"Does intelligent life really exist in the infinite Universe? Science doesn't know the answer, nevertheless, it doesn't stop searching. From a logical point of view, intelligent life exists in the universe without a doubt, because that's the only way we can explain the fact that, our brothers in intellect haven't made contact with us yet."
In other words, they have the wits not to make contact with us...

How does everyone feel knowing this?

THE UNIVERSE:
4. Population - NONE

It is known that there are an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the Universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the whole Universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely the products of a deranged imagination.

Yeah, that sounds about right.

1) I have yet to see ANY proof whatsoever of intelligent life ANYWHERE in the universe.

2) "Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds." -- I'm no math wiz, well maybe I was once..nevermind that, but how is this accurate?

If there's an infinite amount of space for worlds, why does it matter that they aren't all inhabited? Infinite amount of space for worlds makes an infinitely increasing number of inhabited planets, right? It's increasing at a slower rate, which maybe is an argument...but it seems to me that the math analogy would be something like:

(infinite amount of space)^10 / (infinite number of inhabited worlds)

Which I think simplifies to:

inifinity/infinity

thus

1

(the true population of the universe)

(Assuming the 10 exponent represents the ratio of space to worlds in the universe, insert whatever constant or operation you want there..)

Right? No?

Of course I could be totally off with my infinity math! hehe

3) Interestingly enough, #2 above may be the evidence for #1 above. :)

4) And as a result of #2, I have concluded that I am the only one who truly exists in the universe, and you all must be figments of my imagination! :D

Can the word be shortened, as in "I don't care a fig" ?

And how does a figment relate to a figleaf ?
Is that how it all began ?

There was actually a NOVA on this last night...

Personally, I highly doubt it. Perhaps there might be life out there, but I doubt that it would make spaceships or radio signals or anything. Humans are very peculiar; let's not insult the non-existant aliens by assuming that they have the same habits.

Any intelligent life with the technology to get them to Earth is smart enough to stay away.:D

Intellect requires society because language is an agreed establishment of normative signifiers. However, society is not a thing, it is an idea ("show me society, take me to society";), and ideas are often forgotten.

::shuts eyes tight, clutches plush baby Jesus, and tries as hard as possible to forget::

What is intellect anyway, but a mutual vanity between two or more people that they agree on the denotations of a shared set of signifiers? How do we identify intellect? Didn't Benet, when he made the IQ test, caution that IQ shouldn't be used to prove anything?

Intelligent life doesn't exist. But vanity does, so rejoice in it.

I saw a great t-shirt the other day that sums up my thoughts, "your stupid."

I disagree with this post. God is all-knowing and therefore intelligent. Scientia est potentia. Maybe we should be looking for God, not looking to outerspace. It is said that he has eyes everywhere... but the only thing that is everywhere and has eyes is on our currency. Black out his eyes!!! Let him know we're not going to take his perverse games anymore!!! Anomie est potentia!

Dude, why did you have to take a lighthearted post and turn it all bitter? We all know SL is a haven for you God-hating types but you don't have to antagonize those of us who don't view things the way you do. You're doing the very thing that you accuse them of!

You can't fight fire with fire but you can fight it with bombs. Maybe if "they" weren't such judgmental p*&^$s then I wouldn't be this way.

Well, it's time to break the cycle.
