The US has been kicking the world's ass in a large number of ways for the last hundred years. Why the urge to monkey around so radically with a system that has worked so well for us in the past? The EU is going in the opposite direction--more cooperation amongst themselves--and unless I'm mistaken it's making Europe stronger, and more of a world factor, right?

WTF is C3PO supposed to be USEFUL for anyway, besides whining? Stupid piece of scrap metal would be more useful recycled as a toaster. But even that would suck, because who would want to listen to a whining wussy toaster? Is he gold plated? If that's the case he should just be melted down into gold ingots. Help the economy some, and stop being so damn useless you stupid bucket of bolts! R2 is 1,000 times more useful than your tin man ass, and he's shaped like a salt and pepper shaker FFS!

From: Arcadia Codesmith We need big government to kick big business' balls up into its larynx when it gets out of line (of course, when the two start sleeping together, that just defeats the whole purpose).
That's funny as hell... and it has some truth to it, as long as it doesn't go too far. Those goddamn multinationals are out of control, they're proving why capitalism is a flawed system (although it's still the best we have). In general I can understand wanting to keep taxes low and loosening government regulation at times to help the economy, but alot of those big wigs are just fucking assholes. It's a matter of finding a good balance between the two extremes, and it's really damn hard to find the middle ground (that is, assuming it's not totally impossible).

From: Garoad Kuroda It's a matter of finding a good balance between the two extremes, and it's really damn hard to find the middle ground (that is, assuming it's not totally impossible). Too true. If government regulation is too heavy-handed, it will either have to be enforced on a continuous (and costly) basis or it will be routinely ignored. You can't let the industry dictate the process, but you do have to solicit and listen to their input about what can be done. Too many bureaucrats think that compiling a 19 volume rulebook and treating it as holy scripture is the answer. But no body of rules can cover every circumstance. Unless government is flexible, responsive and willing to negotiate, it's going to run smack into resistance to anything it tries to do. The middle ground may not be less regulation or more regulation - it may be regulation that's clearer, able to adapt to changing circumstances, and forged out of a collaboration between industry, community groups and all affected parties.

From: Ardith Mifflin That's not a solution. Running away from your problem is cowardly, and leaves the problem for others to deal with. The fact is if people want to live that way why should I tell them no. The problem is you want people to live in your way. I don't want to be forced to live any way but my own. If I don't like were I live because of the laws I should be able to move. Problem is with a Federal Goverment getting bigger and bigger we can't just move any more because that means leaving the US.
