In your dreams, paranoia guy.

I beleive the orignal poster is properly refered to in the plural sense

so would be "in your dreams, GUYS"

or "in your dreams, YOU ALL"

Thought of course I agree about Blaze, THEY like to post just to see how many people THEY can bother.

As a side note, the plural of y'all is all y'all. Language is fun.

no no no, y'all is plural. The singular form is ya (pronounced yuh). At least it was when I grew up, but you know kids these days, no respect for grammar.

Oh the joys of Google, it seems both of us are correct depending on if one is from Texas or not:

http://maddog.buzzword.com/stories/storyReader$37

Here is the highlight in case you don't want to read the article:

[Update: I have just learned from my in-the-field linguistic source that there is a particular Texas variant of this new English plural. Y'all means "you, singular, familiar", as in "How y'all doin', Jim?" To mark for plural, it's "All y'all", as in "How did all y'all do on the exam?". "You" is reserved for formal occasions or other such unlikely eventualities.]

[Update again: I received the following message from another reliable linguistic source that helps clarify: I'm a Southerner—born in Alabama, raised in Mississippi, and currently I reside in Texas. My qualifications having been somewhat established, I'd like to point out that when a TRUE Southerner directs the term 'Y'all' to a single person, that they are referring to that person AND that person's folks, kin, family.

Okay, clarification:

you is singular, proper or for emphasis
y'all is singular OR small groups. (under 6 or so)
all y'all is for medium sized groups (7ish to 20ish)
all y'all all is for large groups (21+)

Here is another data point in this discussion about informal second-person plural personal pronouns. Despite growing up in the midwest and now living in SF, I say the words "you all" when I'm addressing a group of people. It's not a contraction with drawl, as in "y'all", rather I clearly pronounce both words. For example, "how are you all doing?"

Personally, it's become my official second-personal personal pronoun whenever I'm addressing a group.

Quite fascinating, Ulrika. Would then, if addressing a larger sized audience in the second person plural double-plural, choose a pronoun set of "all you all all"? For example:
Good evening, kind gentlemen and ladies. Today at Masterpiece Theater we shall be watching an excellent selection from my personal library. This is an unreleased Hitchcock thriller that was finished right before the untimely demise of the artisan, and prohibited in his last will and testament to be released for public consumption, except at such specific time that has alloted after his death. Proudly and boisterously, I am happy to present the new film noir masterpiece, a delightful pontification of life and a posthumous celebration of Hitchcock's command on the medium. I give you, "Dial 'P' For Pernicuous". I hope all you all all enjoy it heartily!

We've had this debate on a long car trip to Kansas once. I've always used the singular/plural pronoun "you" to refer to a singular person and the plural pronoun "ya'll" to refer to more than one person. As a Yankee, I'm afraid I don't see how ya'll can possibly apply to only one person, since one person hardly encompasses the breadth which all seems to indicate. But what do I know? I don't even know what chitlins are.

Very correct, Ulrika. Y'all is really just a contraction of "you all" which is grammatically perfectly correct.

Here on the East Coast, it's a gradual progression as you travel south. In New Jersey and New York, it's "You" or "Hey you". By the time you reach Virginia it's "You all". The Carolinas seem to be the start of "Y'all", and by the time you reach Georgia you're in the middle of "All Y'all" country.

And by the time you reach Miami, it's "get your hands up".

Around the South Jersey/Philly area it becomes "Yous" and "Yo" for a limited geographical area.

Nuh uh, it is Bievenidos a Miami! Did Will Smith teach you nothing? And the only time it snows here is when a drug smuggling plane has to bail out its cargo while being chased by the Feds :)

Nope, "Y'all" starts further north, just below the Mason-Dixon line. :D

And definitely recognizable, however insultingly so. I could recognize him even in that car in the picture above, and I wasn't even in the game when he was!
