From: Persephone Milk Feedback is a good thing - even critical feedback - when it is done constructively and with an encouraging spirit. I think it's important to remember that we are all pioneer's here ... we are all doing things we have never done before, we will all do things poorly at first and get better over time, and we all could use a few words of encouragement to push us to the next level. Take, for example, this thread where a certain new and aspiring shoe designer had his "engines fueled" by the positive feedback he received on the forums. Fatal, I love your shoes and I am going to buy a pair of yours tonight as well! I know you really didn't any mean harm by what you wrote here. I wish you great success in your endeavors here and I only hope that I can become half the designer that you are. I'm glad you posted this link Persephone. Because while I would not reduce myself to his level and publicly criticize him for his efforts, atleast your link offers the readers of this thread a means by which to compare his work against the work of all of the shoe designers that he singles out in his post, and found so easy to criticize and demean. I must say however, that personally, I fail to see the extraordinary "texture" and "quality" in his shoes that he states is so profoundly lacking when compared to the rest of the shoes in SL. Can someone please point out this extraordinay texture and quality he speaks of? They look like a basic "wood" prim colored in black to me. But I could be wrong. I don't understand the metal spike thing though. But If metal spikes on high heel stilettos is your thing, then by all means hes your guy

From: Aimee Weber Great post, Persephone! I have two things to add. 1. The market is a far better indicator of "quality" (at a given price) than the posted opinions of a few. If somebody comdemns your shoes, but they sell very well, I would pay closer attention to the silent complement people are expressing with their Linden Dollars. If you are new to the biz, and your shoes aren't selling very well, perhaps you should lower your price to make them a bargain, then keep practicing until you make the killer shoes people are thrilled about. 2. Techical ability is important but it's not everything. Many new designers come into SL with some wonderful, unique ideas that were previously unseen in SL. The implementation may not be highly polished compared to the big name designers, but the "cool" factor can go a long way. Think of them as some great garage band...they don't have an expensive studio, their instruments suck, and nobody has ever heard of them...but the spark is there and YOU will be able to say you were a fan BEFORE they became the biggest name in town Excellent points. Though I do understand the O.P.'s position to begin with. Thing is though, if something doesn't sell, then that person will lower their prices or figure out what they are doing wrong, and try it again. So it's all kind of self-regulating. coco

I just want to know why prim shoes require a size 0 foot. I know others hate that but no one says anything about it. A size 30 foot would at least be reasonable.

lol im so hurt not even one metion of mine and sensual's shoes..... takes me about 2-3 weeks to crank out a perfected pair of shoes...probbly cause im anal....1.5 months for boots i hope no ones disappointed with our quality if so let me know. From: Loki Pico I just want to know why prim shoes require a size 0 foot. I know others hate that but no one says anything about it. A size 30 foot would at least be reasonable. because when you make the prim to the shoe it has to be set larger then the shoe....have you noticed that if you put on a size 0 shoe on a size 30 foot the foot is the same size as the shoe? its just the nature of prims....if we were to size it for a size 30 it would make your foot look like a size 50....feel me? From: Tya Fallingbridge I personally will not place something for sale, unless I wear it constantly. If I dont like wearing it after a few weeks, you wont find it in my store. Others may like it, but I need to be completely happy with it first.

LMAO hell i thought i was the only ony that did that...thank goodness ...yay! im not nutz! From: Persephone Milk Unfortunately I think that threads like this do discourage people. I think we need to lift up and encourage all content creators, ESPECIALLY those just learning their trade. New players will alway make a few purchases that they regret later - no biggie - that is part of the learning process. But new players that have their dreams and aspirations crushed by rants like this may never develop themselves to the point where they are able to create on the level of the "top designers."
I do not know who's shoes were the target of this thread ... but I am going to find them and buy a pair tonight ... because there is no better way to inspire the passion of a new creator than to purchase their product, give them a postive rating, and a send a word of encouragement. only problem i see with that is just like a fat girl in a dress 3 sizes too small and everyone tells her she looks nice.....next thing you know shell show up at a job interview that way and loose it because she looks a mess. i think the truth could have been cushioned a bit in this case but constructive critasizm can be a greater motivator in most cases. If someone feels they did a great job at something and everyones only raving....then how does this person know they fuked up?....by going along for months till people just stop buying cause the feel theyve done enough charity to the creator? and that persons stuck flustered and has no clue how to come up..because according to everyones reviews it was perfect. pfft....hell if i fuk up plz tell me imediately.

From: Cocoanut Koala Excellent points. Though I do understand the O.P.'s position to begin with. Thing is though, if something doesn't sell, then that person will lower their prices or figure out what they are doing wrong, and try it again. So it's all kind of self-regulating. coco I would understand the O.P.s position also, if it wasn't so obvious that he was suddenly overcome with a fit of envy when, lo' and behold, he realized all of the competition he suddenly had in SL... From: Fatal Raine I came to a realization, there are atleast 10 new shoe shops that have sprung up in the last two weeks. Now normally I wouldnt mind, I usually have a "good for them : mile::* attitude towards poeple opening shops. I myself have tried to open up a shop but due to RL issues have been having problems putting out new items. And then, like the "self-proclaimed" pre-eminent shoe designer that he's apparently convinced he is, he then proceeded to criticize and demean these designers to the extent they felt compelled to post on this thread to somehow justify their work. He didn't limit his vile to the designers, however, as he then proceeded to insult me and anybody else that ever bought these shoes by saying... From: someone I suppose I shouldnt be aggrivated that poeple are dumb enough to pay for very low quality items, not my money right? I'm sorry but this is rude and insensitive. My friend and I bought our first pair of shoes from KDC when we first came to SL. There is nothing dumb about buying her shoes. We went shopping, we saw her shoes, we loved them, and we bought them. Anyway, he then has the nerve to say... From: someone For the poeple who are selling low quality high priced work, knowing it's low quality high priced work, and making no effort to make it any better, I ask you begginly, please go away. (*Psst*, hello ... have you looked at your shoes lately?) LOL, sorry I just could't resist I mean, gosh, wouldnt it be wonderful if all of the SL designers could just write a seething post about their competitors and simply beg them to go away? I just think this post was rude, malicious, and insensitive and it really had no place in a public forum that's all.

Well I think that Fatal makes awesome shoes and I bought myself a pair of his amazing Retaliation(tm) Heels tonight (which I promptly colored hot pink - love the touch script Fatal - nice work!). I searched every vendor at the mall in question and was unable to find even a single pair of shoes that I would describe as anything less than absolutetly delightful. If anybody knows where I can buy some of these ugly shoes, please send me an IM because I owe somebody out there some support So, since Kimberly felt that maybe Fatal was talking about her shoes (ain't no way - your stuff is so nice - I have been wearing your Classics(tm) for months now) I decided to buy a pair of her Kans(tm) sneakers. 14 colors including hot pink! Look for me at the welcome area tonight ... I will be the girl wearing a spikey pink heel on one foot, and a hot pink sneaker on the other!

I am a shoe addict - IRL and in SL.. at any place.. I can spend thousend of any currency to by a pair of shoes.. eat less to.. not do things - all to get that special pair of shoes.. Thats nuts I know ))) In SL there are still only a few that manage to do shoes that fit my preffs of a good mix between shoes/boot/animation.. Less is more, plain, pointed toes, no platforms colour mode and well -->> WELL!<<--- scripted. AS I count that the walk animation are in the shoes. I dont know how do use all clever things that are in SL. maybe thats why I count on the animation in the shoes.. This is my personal feelings about why I shop or dont shop... So IF you sell shoes without good walk script.. or dont support me with a proposal how and where I can get a very good one.. You are out... yes there are some good styles but without them.. sadly.. IF you sell shoes with bad walk animations.. like walking with bended knees - You are out.. I have five pairs with such walking script.. (And irl I have trained as young for months to walk in high heels.. so why should i walk uggly in SL?) You are out... and I dident get any help or refund.. I have as you probably U-stand a few pairs that I use often.. . I have few pair that i bought as they are well made.. but dont use as it not my style but I wanted to by them as the maker are so good on it... her name starts with an I..... she does other great stuff to as handbags *lol*.. and houses.. and.. I have lovely flower wellingtons.... for using in the garden )) Surprise NO animation but I am in the garden you know... AND.. IF you meet me you will probably see me in a pair of Black Boots.. with a small platform (I dont fancy that.. but) as they are nice and the walk animation are great.. I use them.. from early days in SL and still... I have bought several pairs and given away to close friends to.. her name starts with an A.... OR IN MY FAVORITssssss And last.. I have pumps, mules (slides) and slingbacks.. with a great animation in.. and the look are right (my taste).. PLUS that the maker of them at once when I asked for a pair of special made did start to IM me... and we got a conversation... about shoes.. A RESPONSE... I LOVE THAT!!. A connection AND SERVICE!!!! Her name start with an E.. her surname with an F and she are great!! ***** And as last words: The mix between meeting the maker/the designer/the person behind the shoes.. and service and answers in IMs.. and if needed smaller changes.. help.. makes me starve in SL to and get more shoes.. ***** IF more want to do al that (mentioned above between the *) I will need some sims to store al my shoes. but prob I dont need to be worried about that. And thats sad in a way to know that.

PetGirl, message me in-world some time if you would like some help setting up an animation override that you can wear and forget about. We can have you walking pretty no matter what shoes you are wearing. There is no reason you cannot walk pretty in your bare feet, or for that matter completly nakey ... and the way I see it ... if you aren't gonna wear shoes, why wear anything at all?!
