As I said, I don't think it indicates anything other than 'money changed hands'. I've held over a million Lindens before. Wuzn't all mine, wuzn't all from the same sources, wuzn't all from business dealings of any kind. (Wuz because my subliminal forum icon works, ya know). What would my suddenly having it and appearing on the boards actually tell you? You don't know where it's come from, why I have it or where it's going next. How can you predict anything or act on that?
What would Aimee appearing there tell you? Did Preen have a bumper week? Did Aimee collect for charity? Did Philip pay her a hefty bribe to keep quiet? Did she feel like appearing on the leaderboard for a week to get people talking?

sure maybe you might show up one week and then disappear of the chart. but if you appear their consitantly for weeks, players would see that you, or who ever you represent is taking a long position on the L$. that is L$ that are not moving in the economy and thus lowering supply artificially. similar information for abrupt rises and falls for ige or anshechung.com cashflows can create some speculation on the direction these market movers might influence the L$.
looking at weekly statistics last year would have suddenly shown one player several times in the top 10. other players checked out what she was doing and saw she had invented the dance machine! she had gotten in first, and did well. but then others joined in and competed for her market share. soon we saw a great variety of machines with different functionality. that competition pushed all the makers to improve their product. the most talented and/or hardest working did well and the community benefitted from top notch products. that's an example that might resonate with you. in fact it was that example that showed me the importance of the weekly stats last year. and a lot of content creators are also very aware of it and some do their best to avoid appearing in it.
Was this on the forums? Would be interested to read it. As I said, I wouldn't be against transparency for commerce if it really were possible to make that distinction.
Jauani, you're making me spend entirely too much effort and brain power on this. I wish I hadn't posted at all now

i think the topic of setting up a business system, as complex as it may seem, might become an important one. there are people spending serious effort to provide good content and services for L$=USD and a lot of consumers spending a lot of USD for their L$ entertaintment. both groups, particularly those in a less privileged position, require transparency in the L$=USD to avoid exploitation.
