I didnt know about "force sunset" for weeks after I joined. I had a crappy Radeon card that made night time extremely dark. LL should really make that an easily accesible button.

I met someone who was older than me as an avatar, about a year ago, who had been staying at home because she couldn't see what she was doing in the dark. At home, she had refrained from working on making anything because she couldn't see in the dark. She was very grateful to learn about force sunset.
I think a lot of people miss this, and others assume that it fixes permanent night because it says force sunset. Would be better if it said "toggle night/day". Cali |

I'd say it's because you mostly only want to make it daytime when it's becoming night. So you FORCE the sun to finish setting and it rises
 (Rather than forcing the sun to rise). _____________________

Someone told me about the Debug Menu about a week after I started. Does anyone know why it is not defaulted to show just like all the other menus?
Alexa I explained about the debug menu to someone who had been in world 7 months - I guess if you are not told, you never know it's there. _____________________

i was told about force daylight early on (thankfully!), but i didn't actually discover how to make it NIGHT (mouse moves sun in DEBUG) until much much later

I learned abour force sunset early on, thanks to Siggy. I have bad vision, but light sensative eyes, so I keep my gamma levels kinda low, making things way too dark at times.
My biggest problem is I always forget how to bring up the Debug menu after I reinstall. _____________________

Move the sun, a better option

Ctrl+Alt+Shift+D == Debug Menu ..it lists on the far right of the menus at the top of your screen.
Instead of using Force Sunrise, which is slow, use Move Sun, which is just about instant. (debug menu must be showing on your menu bar for this to work...) Enter Mouselook (press "M") Ctrl+Alt+M (you're now moving the sun) ...look straight up (or wherever you want to put the sun) Ctrl+Alt+M (again, sets the sun to the position you're looking at (the relative arc of the sun anyway)) |

Kris, I've just tried it, but I cant seem to find the Any key. Simple: While in the SL client, stand still, and press CTRL+Q. Also known to solve all major SL bugs. _____________________
