Japanese scientists have unveiled the most human-looking robot yet devised - a "female" android called Repliee Q1. isn't it great seeing peaks of the future? especially when there's a link on that page about another computer that is being developed to not mimic, but emulate the human mind! not sure if i should be smling or building a bomb shelter ..hehe?

synethic spider silk, andriods, emulation of human thinking, teleportation. I'm starting to get worried here. We are giving the hunks of metal everything they need for world domination....I can see it now...Terminator mets Matrix......mixed in with Tripping the Rift for an adult kick.

This research is a remarkable and breath-taking advance in the ever growing science sector of not-having-to-talk-to-a-girl-for-real.

Realistic, eh? I'll bet this "petite" android weighs 300 pounds. Hey she's not fat, she's big boned!

From: someone Professor Ishiguru stresses the importance of appearance If he stresses that the Android's look good then why can't he get a haircut!? its amazeing how real these are getting, Soon there will be no need for human interaction, Yay! "Supertehseck's bot 2000 GET ME A BEER!"

From: Foulcault Mechanique They already can get you bear and the morning paper. Not to be too negative about it, but I detect a bit of hype here. This is more of an automaton than a robot and only the upper body it seems. I remember seeing something very similar and almost as life-like being developed in the 1700's. I would put this one in the sex toy category judging by the look in the Profs eye

I remember hearing ashimo could pick stuff off floord but all the specs I read don't really say. Ashimo is a child sized bipedal robot that has been used in homes to help the bed ridden and in buisness as well. It has a full range of motion and (last I heard) had the best walking ability yet as it could strafe, and could do many things that would unstablize it's center of gravity. So far only one robot equals it in bipedal movement and I think that is the Sony unit that can actually get itself to stand up if someone was to push it over. heheh hey watch this *wwhack*...*thump*....hehe wanna see it again.

Very Satisfying

I especially liked this part: "Repliee Q1 can interact with people. It can respond to people touching it. It's very satisfying"

From: Strife Onizuka Old news, was in MIT tech review. Yup. It is an old story that got into news a couple of years ago. You can watch the movie here, though it requires RealPlayer.

It is the burden I must bare. *ding* By the way, I think somebody should tell Professor Ishiguru that I saw that floozy Repliee getting PRETTY giddy with one of the Pirates of the Caribbean at Disney last weekend.

Cybin, I didn't mean I blamed you for this at all. BBC's report carried this item on 27 July 2005. Just I guessed the journalist of BBC might not have any article.

From: Jellin Pico I read that Professor Ishiguru's next model will be called the Bukkake 3000 I think that is just about the dirtiest thing you could say that more than half the people reading would not realize was even dirty

From: Cybin Monde seeing peaks of the future Intentional misspelling or freudian slip? You be the judge. Silicone is no replacement for flesh. Not even really good silicone. Not even with multispeed vibration mode and little fluttering bunny ears and rotating pearls.

From: Arcadia Codesmith Intentional misspelling or freudian slip? You be the judge. Speaking of misspelling, Professor Ishigur o is right. From: Arcadia Codesmith Silicone is no replacement for flesh. But it is usually used in twin peaks. Yep, peaks of the future.
