I have an average East Coast life, and average East Coast hours I can be online.

Some of the best SL stuff happens after 8pm Pacific which puts us EST members in the Baggy Eyed Department.

The point is... if there is a significant enough interest in events geared more towards the East Coast Time Zones, I will invest time and effort into planning and execution!

If its just me and everyone else can crank on coffee all day because they were in a contest at 9:30 Pacific... sorry. :)
Forget I said anything!

Basically, just tag this post if you are an East Coaster and would be interested in events geared more to our time zone once in a while.

Thanks,
Christopher Nomad

fifth, however my only current option is to come straight home and go to sleep for a few hours and then get up later to go to an event or build or whatever. Would be nice if there was events that had to do with EST. I think once more people on the East coast join in the game maybe there will be a seperate event calendar to handle East Coaster Events.

Loki Pico had a great idea a few weeks ago. He hosted an open chat at 8:00 am on a Saturday morning. At that hour, SL is pretty dead, but a few of us did appear, and it was a nice chat.

Maybe some of us folks "back east" could start hosting a few off hours events. We can't look to the Lindens for everything. They sleep WAY late on weekends. :D

I stay up so late this isn't really a problem for me, but on another note, I try my best to hold all of my events at an east-coast-friendly time.

I've hosted two events at 5 pm PST, which is 8 pm Eastern, and both had decent turnouts. I often log on after work and find plenty of people online, including friends from across the Atlantic, who have it even worse!

I eighth or ninth or whatever it is . . .

even though I'm on central time, eastern time is much more user friendly for me :).

you all should have been playing the game when it was still in beta. The game only ran from my time, 7pm on up to only about 2 am or so. Made it really hard cause i could only stay on for maybe 2 hours before having to head to sleep. Much better now but would still be nice to have east coast timed events.

Beta was cool for me though, because the forums would get more active as the world came closer to start. I guess I kinda miss the anticipation of waiting a few hours to try to think of something to build in 6 hours time. Hmm... oh well... I'm not saying that it should change back, OH no... I guess I just miss when the world was small and the lifers few. Then I'm sure others think, geez, it sure was quite until the Dionysus guy came along...

Hopefully there will be events happening 24 hours a day before too long. We need more European users for starters, then us folk on the east coast (count me in) won't feel like such party poopers.

Hehe... events? what are those? You mean I'm supposed to be social too??

Seriously though, I have a couple of ideas for events that would be at euro-friendly times (though that still might not be good for east costers), just need to wade through the scripting and building I'm in the middle of right now..

Yeah, I must have met 9 or 10 UK players now and we miss a lot of the events as they are just too late. It seems that the Advanced courses are almost always on later than the Beginner ones and therefore impossible to get to. The worst thing though, is missing the social events that US players I have met are holding - the parties and get-togethers..

Still.. it's early days.. it will get better - more Europeans are appearing all the time.

Well... a far as I am concerned thats a decent enough interest!

I talked with a Liason last night and found there was a very small yet potential snag in my idea and that is when it comes to having EST events "announced".

Turns out that current SL "policy" is to announce events between xPST and yPST hours. Although after thinking about it... this shouldnt be too big of a hassle when you consider how decent of a window of opportunity this is for EST people!
It just needs a little adjustment so we can get some events in on a more EST friendly clock.

So, without further complications, I will begin planning and offering East Coast Events! Hmph... now theres a decent company name. So let it be written... so let it be done.
*ahem* (sorry :D )
East Coast Events is born!

Now for the big question.... what kind of events? :)
I think there is the obligatory, "East Coast Newbie" session.
Also, I have attended several events and classes and I particularly enjoyed:
Photo Caption Contests
Trivia!
Tours
And even an Impromptu "Love Lines" session the other day!

What East Coast Events would you be interested in participating in? Any interest in hosting? CoHosting?
Keep em coming guys!
Look for an Announcement later today!

I'm with you on this one! I stay up WAAAAYYYY toooooo late sometimes playing SL!

In fact, last night I volunteered to help Nyna with an event and then found out it started at 1:30am my time and had to back out. sheeeeesh.

I might even post an east-coast friendly event soon myself.

I might even post a morning event on one of my days off to see what euro riff-raff shows up. (just kidding eddie and basinstoke! lol)

I'm in the EST timezone but I play mostly after midnight so the PST timed events are perfect! :D

I'd like to see a lot of events all around the clock though.

I'm like Madox -- east coast night owl. It's actually kind of nice since I do tend to get on late, there's always stuff happening even though it's midnight for me.

That being said, however, it is boring when I do get on at a reasonable time during the day or evening and there's nothing to do because the PST people are still asleep :P

Hooray for East Coast-timed events!

If you are waiting for a Linden person to run events at 6:00AM there time, I think you will be waiting for quite a while :)

I would suggest that everyone, not just those on the East Coast, but EVERYONE, start doing events on their own, when they want to have them, no matter what time it is.

I think it's a shame that there are SO FEW events that happen in our world, and yet we have such talented individuals here.

Everyone's assigment over the next Month, is to think up and run your own event. It should be run during a PRIME TIME for your time zone, and be advertised at least three days in advance on this very website. You can advertise the event in the General Forum, in the Event Forum, and on the Event Calendar.

Let's all work together, to make SL a FUN place to be!

Thanks!
