"It is good, that you enlighten people about Harry Potter, because those are subtle seductions, which act unnoticed and by this deeply distort Christianity in the soul, before it can grow properly," wrote Cardinal Ratzinger.

Competition is stiff in the fairytale buisiness. I think the Vatican needs to turn out some sequels to the bible if they want to stay relevant. I'd suggest more action, less guilt trip.

Pfft, 'wide ranging gifts of spiritual discernment', my ass. I still don't understand how Harry Potter stories supposedly prevent kids from 'developing a properly ordered sense of good and evil', when Harry fights against evil in every book... I guess you have to invoke the name of God when you fight evil, or it doesn't count. :::Sigh::: It's so good to see all these fine spiritual people focusing on what's *really* important in the world today-- the evils of fantasy literature-- instead of all that silly crap like drugs and poverty and world peace. Good to know their priorities are in the right place.

i agree 100% with the pontiff. harry potter could deeply distort christianity before it can grow properly. witches, magic, warlocks, evil trees, luck charms. it all seems pretty unholy to me.

still, not bad flics

At least the Pope loves cats.

Not that it's relevant to Harry Potter fans.

actually i can see the popes problem with it. if you change the word 'wand' to 'wang' it can be very erotic, even homoerotic.

http://www.bash.org/?111338

""Yes," Harry said, gripping his wang very tightly, and moving into the middle of the deserted classroom. He tried to keep his mind on flying, but something else kept intruding.... Any second now, he might hear his mother again... but he shouldn't think that, or he would hear her again, and he didn't want to... or did he? Something silver-white, something enormous, erupted from the end of his wang."

I already have my copy of the book on hold. Weee! :D

Soooo...

Maybe the headline should be:

"Harry Has Magic Wang, but Pope Prefers Pussies"

Or would that just be wrong?

Harry Potter is corrupting the faith......I wonder if priests molesting children is above or below Potter in terms of priority?

Yeah, I think the Pope should have clarified on what he agrees with about the novels and what he disagrees.

This kind of blanket statement is not going to help the catholic religion at all.

A Pope endorsement! Man I am going to go buy the book when it comes out. Man I don’t know if the book company can keep up, do you think they sent him a gift for the nice comments about the book to help sales?

ok hold on. the media hilights this news because this is the crap that most people want to hear about - harry potter, tom cruise, and american idol. i don't think it means that the catholic church has put harry potter on their hitlist behind poverty, hunger, war, and gay marriage.

You know I read a article and I even heard radio people talking about it. All I got to say is dirty minded people will turn a childs toy into a sex object.

I don’t know if the thing is still for sail. I remember the first I was told we were at Wal-Mart with my Ps and my oldest wanted it. My mother said no, then told me in the ear. My mom is not a proud but that makes he look like one.
I am making a St. Andrescross and my wife has gotten in to making floggers. But my favorite toy it the electric fly swatter. Gives you the smack and a shock. mmmmmmmmm

So I can get deviant, but not with kids toys. See a kids toy or kids thing I go limp. Wife had to take pix of our kids out the the bed room because I would see them and would be limp with no hope of getting up. :(

What part do you live in?
Did any one ever read (I think it’s a good friend has the Audio Book of it) Harry Potter Spoof? The one with 20 disclaimers on it?

Catholic Church: This is the worst thing written. It is clearly of the devil.
Satin: Hay wait your not putting this peace of crap on me.
Catholic Church: Clearly if Satin is against it, it must me a holy thing indeed.

Or something like that. Harry’s best friend now has a Dog mind. The girl is not a teacher at the school and is a slut.

They took it off the market. I saw the actual amazon.com information and oh yeah it was obvious. No dirty minds needed what the kids were liking about it. Last I checked the entire information at amazon about the product was removed.
