They never contribute to forum topics and all they do is incite anger and hatred and contribute further and further to an aura of distrust and disrepect.
Forum moderators - I hope you're not surprised that you're constantly having to mod these forums. You are creating a cesspool of anger here by your inaction.

Cienna, forum moderation is about creating an atmosphere of friendly conversation. Enabling technology which does not do this only adds to an atmosphere of vitriol.
Images stoke the flames of every forum war I've seen. Turn this technology off, it's just allowing constant abuse of these forums.
LF - perhaps you could be specific, I'm not sure exactly what you are referring to.

LF - perhaps you could be specific, I'm not sure exactly what you are referring to. Here is a picture of the Earth's atmosphere, to help illustrate your point. Perhaps, blaze, posting an insinuating false allegation shoudl be banned too? That certainly doesn't create friendly converstion.

Cienna, I would appreciate it if you do not belittle and use insulting language like 'drama'.
I would also invite you to review established and successful forums around the thread. All of them got that way by disabling technologies which incited and allowed for excessive abuse.

Eggy,
That's an interesting point. I think sometimes people confuse the concept of discussing group think versus being a discussion about themselves.
I have taken to avoid discussing groups, however I still have a very strong stand on elitism, witch hunts, and lynch mobs.
As for the rest, the ideas are simply ideas. They are not addresses at anyone personally, so taking offense to them is like taking offense to the nature of rational thought.

I'd be happy to stop calling you on creating needless drama, blaze. All you need to do is stop doing it. I reiterate, the ability to do so rest with you. Rather than try to foist your preferences on all, perhaps you should take whatever measures you find helpful for you and stop trying to play nanny to the world? M'kay?

Cienna, I'll stop calling you a xyz, if you stop being a xyz.
Honestly, we can all play that game? Does it get any of us anywhere? No.
SL needs to make changes which shows they seriously intend to use the forums as a rational method of discourse.

Blaze, your opinions are irrelevant. These forums aren't here for you or Prokofy to make a stand against elitism / the fic / whatever. If you have strong opinions on something, put them up on a blog. There is a very fine line between heated discussion and personal attacks, and people in this forum are never any good at walking on the right side of it. The forums should provide people with a friendly and helpful environment, where newbies can come and be welcomed, get their questions answered, etc.

Well, Eggy, that would be a new user question forum, no? That's not the mandate of this particular forum ("General Discussion about SecondLife" .

However, that is a good solution. Getting rid of the general forum and replacing it with a place where people can simply come to ask new user questions. They'll probably have to do that with the land and economy forum as well.

Can we have a turn off poster option ? I dont mean another ignore option, I mean somthing that stopes users from posting but allows them to read. Id love to see what it would do to the forum trolls, they may beforced to eat their own brains, or use an alt.

I didn't mean that it was JUST for newbie questions, I mean to imply that all the freaking trolls and drama queens are driving people away from the forums.
