Sounds good to me are you going to watch my 5 year old so he doesn't distroy anything? Take a page from the Modern Mom's handbook: turn on the TV, give them some Ritalin, and let them veg out in front of Power Rangers or something. It's such an effective technique, you'll almost forget you ever had the little bugger. Until he's a maladjusted teenager teeming with pent up rage. Then you can flip to page 2 of the Modern Mom's handbook, and utter the words "Where did I go wrong?" Hmmm... maybe I shouldn't have children. |

lmao He's already going to be screwed up enough with the gene pool he's coming from I think I'll pass there. He's at a stage where if he doesn't know how something works he wants to take it apart I had to hide all my tools and anything small and easily taken apart.

Shoe Fly Pie is the ghetto version; ingredients consisting of whatever you can scrounge up from the gutters. Kind of the urban version of roadkill.

The missus just bought this goose down comforter for the bed. It's soooo soft and light. It makes me want to nap a lot.

I vote for giving a rest to endless innuendo.
I also vote that people who have raised children RL stop trying to parent adults online. Break out of the mold! You're free now! _____________________

I answered shoe-fly pie cause I dont know what you are talking about. ![]() I have never had Shoe-fly Pie but I understand it is a North American versoin of "Treacle Tart" which is excellent! . It's so hard to construct an all inclusive poll. I forgot the option for those who post even if they don't have an opinion on the subject. I keep thinking they will just choose ignore. I should know better by now. My apologies. _____________________

I think it is interesting how, as a child, we hate naps and resist them at all costs. However, as adults, we crave them.
As far as anyone giving it a rest, we all have a voice here. If you don't like what someone is saying, then you have a couple of choices. You can a) dispute what they are saying if you think it is innacurate or out of line b) you can ignore them. If you choose the first option, you should expect to have the same done in return. That is how free discourse works. What is not needed is someone coming into a thread and standing in judgement of those in the thread, as if they somehow are above it all. We are all adults and do not need advice from anyone on how to act. Raise your own children - they are the only ones whose behavior you have any say in. It's not as if your own behavior is beyond reproach to begin with. _____________________

That is how free discourse works. I'm in total agreement. Telling people to give it a rest, take a break, or otherwise not to post is not conducive to free discourse. If you don't want to hear history rehashed, you can ignore it. It does seem innapropriately parental to tell another adult not to post. It also seems ironic if one tends to do the same and it suggests that your own histury is more valid than the other persons which could be viewed as arrogant. Personally, I read all the histories presented and voted for Shoe Fly Pie. Now I'm going to go get me some and hopefully some bbq to go with it cause the music is playing and, in the words of Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, Summer's here and the time is right For dancin' in the streets. _____________________

b) you can ignore them. A 6th option for the poll, "Give your own eyes a rest" -- the one I normally go for. _____________________

I dont know what, but the thread is all about child rearing? And completely unrelated to the poll? I just thought it was funny. I won't participate in future I guess. And Nolan.. dont know if your remarks were directed at me but I have no idea at all what you are referring to. seemed like a happy positive thread to me, (til you said that). that was my angle on this whole thread. it seems like a bunch of non sequitors joined together to me. excuse me for barging in. *Dianne slowly tiptoes out of the room* . _____________________

The same holds true for those who indicate their RL professions or income, as if those "facts" give them a loftier perch to sing from than others. Just a curious observation, and certainly not limited to SL, although, it does seem to be more prevalent here. I am reasonably sure that these same people wouldn't walk up to a group, in RL, at a restaurant, club, or what have you, and try to referee their discussion. I suppose this is just another offshoot of the anonimity that the net affords. *shrug* _____________________

The same holds true for those who indicate their RL professions or income, as if those "facts" give them a loftier perch to sing from than others. I know that this is off-topic (?), but I would like to respond briefly to Nolan's assertion. I am on of those who has, in the past and in these forums, mentioned her profession (in a thread titled "RL Work" ![]() I do not see my profession as a 'loftier perch.' In fact, I am quite the idiot for choosing my line of work (see also: low wages, no benefits, long hours). My niche in SL, as I see it, is tied to my RL profession; I am not trying to impress or astound. I am all about naps, long mid-afternoon snoozers that involve down pillows, air conditioning, and sheets fresh from the dryer. Great! Now I am drooling. ![]() |

I do not see my profession as a 'loftier perch.' So, in essence, if you don't use it as a prop, then my statement doesn't apply to you. P.S. - I wouldn't worry about being on topic, this thread could very well find its way into the off-topic section anyway. _____________________

It's all about context. I too, have mentioned my RL job, age, experinces, etc., in online conversations. The problem I see, is when people mistakenly assume that it does give them a leg up on others, especially when morals are involved. You know, Nolan, if a person is being accused by a number of other players of letting another player, who is banned from the forums, write their posts for them, and putting all those thoughts into their head, and being, in essence, an uncredited ghost writer . . .
if a person discovers that at least "a dozen" people are convinced that it is becoming "increasingly clear" that they aren't doing their own writing . . . . . . then that person just MIGHT decide to tell people that a good writer would never do such on (a) ethical grounds and (b) from a total lack of a need to do it. Now, that's doesn't stop you, and apparently will never stop you, from assigning other nefarious motives to my bringing up that, as a writer, I would never do something or NEED to do something so ridiculous as posting the words of someone else and claiming them as my own. Or even thoughts. I don't post thoughts of other people, unless I attribute those thoughts to them. You can, indeed, overlook the huge whisper campaign that was going on to accuse me of allowing another player to circumvent his forum ban, and my need to explain - FINALLY - to those who seemed sincerely perplexed by my writing style - exactly why that wasn't the case. You can overlook that some people participating in the whisper campaign had, as their ultimate goal, the banning of me and of the already forum-banned person from the GAME. You can overlook all that and state this crap about morals instead. You get in another jab that way, I suppose. coco P.S. Not only that, Nolan, but this isn't your own private club, party, or restaurant table. Everyone who subscribes to this game is invited to participate in these forums. |

Coco - maybe you know something I don't know, but it really didn't look to me as though any of that was aimed at you. Cool it. I for one am slowly beginning to warm to the tone of your more recent postings, whoever you might be and whoever I might be. Not that I would dream of implying you should be grateful. Just a fact. For now. Could easily slip backwards
