Where can I find public land? I am in need of some land to build on.

Once I find this public land, how do I go about purchasing it?

Thx

Use View->Property lines to see the lines. I believe dark area's are taken, and normal are free.
Right click on a dark area and use edit land.. Then you can claim it. Also if you use the select land tool you can select bigger pieces of land and claim that.

It's very disappointing that I have been unable to find a decent chunk of public land to purchase. It takes the fun away. I'm getting bored with flying aroundand looking at everyone else's property, and would like the chance to create something of my own. Oh well, if I don't find some land soon, I will prolly quit playing the game and move on to soething else. I enjoy creating and am not getting the chance here.

I was able to find a good piece of land in Namora, but it is a little dishearting to see someone buy a good peice of land and then just put a large billboard up on it...lol.

Additionally realize that we are going to start adding a lot of new land - we will be adding simulators at a rate proportional to the admission of users.

Over the last few weeks we've not done this as we are readying to move to a new facility for our server operations - see our deelopment newsletter for a more complete description of what we are doing on that front.

New simulators coming very soon!

Also, land can be bought/sold

"Yes!" to what Haney and Philip wrote... land is being cleared and more land coming soon... keep on checking the existing territories because we're actively clearing out land owned by inactive beta residents.

Plus remember that with this latest version residents can buy/sell land directly to one another, so if you see a piece you like but it's owned by someone else, well, make them an offer they can't refuse ;)

The developer's journal can be found under the menus at the top of this page: Second Life News --> Developer Journal

Your don't necessarily need your own land to build stuff on: some people have rented space on land owned by someone else, and others have joined forces to work collaboratively on a single project. If you build on somone elses land then they have the power to delete your objects, but they might agree not to. Finally, if you build on public land then your objects will not become public for 3 days, and the timer will reset should you manually alter the content in any way such as move, rotate, or change color/texture.
