Hello everyone. I am a new member to Second Life, and a new member to these forums, so forgive me if I am posting in the wrong spot. I just wanted to introduce myself. In the game my name is stymied ennui. My friend, a fellow user named aggelos diamond introduced me to the game. He's attempting to teach me how to use it. Right now I am a basic member. I'll buy a better account later (don't have the cash right now.) My computer isn't good enough to run this, so I've been playing at his house. I've gone around and searched out some of the free items, so i do have some clothing, etc. I'd love some friends, so if any of you see me around, please come and say hello Also, can anyone tell me where I may be able to get some cheap skins/avatars? Mine looks ok, but...urgh. And all the ones I'm finmding cost WAY too much! I have to be careful with my Lindens because I'm on the basic account. Anyway, hello to all of you

Welcome to SL, but avoid the forums. You'll like the game better that way. Honestly. LF

Hi Stymied ! Welcome aboard Honestly my advice would be to play with your avatar for a little while before buying expensive things like skins. Spend some time trying to figure out how you want to look in game (and saving up stipend as you do). THEN spring for the skin. When you are ready I recommend looking up Kawaii Akebono and Munchflower Zaius for less expensive skins or Chip Midnight or Mistress Midnight for the pricier ones. Their stores can be found in the "PICKS" section of their profile. Happy hunting!

I know how online forums and groups can be - I ignore all the "silliness" that happens, and just use them for the information I can get. I'm very into online groups and blogs and things, so I sort of like having access to "extra" information.

Thanks! Yeah, I think I may just do that. I don't mind the avatar I have now, she doesn't look bad, except her hair is atrocious. lol. I may have my friend design me an avatar, but if I do, he's gonna charge me, lol. He was an art major in college, and he seems pretty good at designing his items and things, so I think he could probably do one for me. I want two totally different ones, the one I have is ok for the one look, but the other one is foreign, and I don't think I can do it.

Welcome to SL, Stymied. You'll have a blast. It's hands down the greatest online experience in the history of the internet. And please don't avoid the forums, we can use some fresh perspective around here

From: Chris Wilde Have you seen Aimee's mustache? You are confusing me with the enigmatic Amy Weebler, who mysteriously shows up to support issues that *I* wouldn't touch with a 10 ft pole

All avatars look alike to me, lol. I only get excited about the really, really different ones. I saw a bowl of fruit this week that I went totally gaga over! I often think about that bowl of fruit.
And I was equally fascinated by a matchstick man I saw a few weeks ago!
For myself, I've been told I look like a newbie. Well, that's not surprising, since I am a newbie, and since it is the same avatar I took an hour to make on Orientation Island. But I'm fine with it, even though I hate to think people are looking at me saying, "Ew, such a newbie avatar."

LOL. That sounds like what Aggelos was doing last night. he was trying on all the animal avatars he found around. The crab was freaking hilarious!!! And so was the zebra If I had it my way, I'd be wearing the Neko Cat Japanese Schoolgirl outfit I saw at this one place, but it was (all together) a little over one hundred Lindens, and I only have 200 left Darn basic accounts. But I'm lucky that I could even afford that right now, I'm really financially strapped, LOL. Darn real life getting in the way of my online experience!

coco Coco, I am SO dropping my fruitbowl av on you later today You are, after all, a fruit...or a nut...well, it grows on trees, that equals fruit to me. (My fruit requirements are broad and sweeping) And...oh yeah! Welcome to SL Stymied! Its the most surreal adventure you'll ever find, Aimiee Woobler's mustache notwithstanding.

From: Azazel Czukor Coco, I am SO dropping my fruitbowl av on you later today Awesome! I'd love the fruitbowl avatar I wasn't sure you could exchange/trade/whatever items and avatars. I'm like, shiney new to the game. LOL. Aggelos hasn't explained too much to me yet, so I've been doing my own "research." Yes, I'm definitly unique. I told Aggelos what my name was, and he looked at me funny. His friend was like "Couldn't you choose a better last name?" and I said, well, probably, but I LIKE ennui. It means boredom, and it fits with my first name, stymied, which means to be held back from doing something. I've been using stymied because I don't want to use my normal username I use for my internet group chatting and such. I wouldn't want those people knowing this character is me, lol.

From: Aimee Weber Dear Mr. or Mrs. Stymied, Allow me to introduce myself. I am Amy Weebler. I too would like to welcome you to the Second Life family. Your's truly, Aime Wobler Dear Mr./Mrs. Weebler: Every time your smiling mustached face pops up in the forums, I laugh silently to the point that tears run down my face. Keeping such a large amount of mirth under wraps while I am at work is putting a serious hurt on my tear ducts. Sooner or later I will lose it and will probably get fired. In which case, I would be very interested in helping you move a large amount of money from a secure bank account out of Nigeria in exchange for a healthy percentage; my bank account number and password are in the mail. Sincerely, Az Czukor P.S. Every time I read the introduction to your missives, I'm reminded of the line "Allow myself to introduce....myself." This doesn't help the laughing fits.
