For anyone who's new here and is wondering what's been going on, don't panic (yet ). I'd like to say welcome to the Forums, hope you'll post in the future when sailing is smoother and have some fun on here.
It helps to read the recent post by Linden Lab CEO and Founder, Philip Linden for more technical details on here and clarification on the finer points:

Also be sure to keep an eye on the Announcements page, as news will be posted as it becomes available to us!

Yes, Lindens are working hard now. They are not dozing off while Residents suffer. We're all in this together and consider that UUID = Universal Unity In Diversity.
Please don't feel too bad, I haven't been able to login today yet and I am a hardcore SLaddict.

Thanks, Torley, this was information I didn't have. You saved me several minutes of digging around to learn wtf was wrong.

Helpful post, Torley. I hope you don't mind, but I was just thinking of posting a sticky with this information here in General to help new Residents. Not trying to copy ya, but we're thinking along the exact same lines in terms of how to help newbies here.

Thank you to Torley! Pathfinder, a sticky at the top of all the primary forums would probably do a lot to alleviate the obsessive posting about logins from those who don't read or can't be bothered to look for solutions before starting a new thread

From: Enabran Templar Why not sticky this thread? Thought crossed my mind, but us Lindens have to take responsibility for these problems. I don't want Torley getting questions that LL should be dealing with. (Pathfinder turns his back and waits for the arrows...part of my job)

Why would SL let anyone new in right now anyways? I don't get it.

Awww, Pathfinder! ... your comment about the arrows in your back... I just want to say to you, and to all Lindens ... if I've been snarky... impatient... if I've been mean in any way shape or form, I'm sorry. I know that the reference was to an analogy made regarding pioneers, but... still. It made me think. And I just wanted you, and everyone at LL to know that I do appreciate where you are right now. I appreciate the work that you guys are doing.
