Or, take anshe for that matter, pretty much all of her plots are empty.
Wouldnt that be a sign in itself? And no I dont mean a for sale sign.

Does Philip know that large tier customers use less bandwidth (on average)? |

I think the only way the products sold graph could be properly interpreted would be alongside a similar graph tracking the population growth. It could be population growth outstrips increase in products sold, and that would not be a sign of a good economy.
More ideally, would be to compare it to an "active users" chart, but I doubt any such is even compiled. Maybe someone with an analytical bent could put population and products charts side by side and take a look. coco |

If you consider Dreamland valuable addition to Second Life, then you will have to support tier discounts for large land owners.

I find it really strange that Philip mentions the probability of a linear tier structure at the town hall where they announced an increase in base cost of land, the introduction of exclusive large parcel sales at auction, and the now limitless supply of available land.
LL knows full well the business structure of the rental market, and until now seemed to fully encourage it. Now it seems they are telling the people that have provided them with the highest tier payments and land sales to fuck off. _____________________

As well as Luskwood and many others. Right. There are so many valuable projects and businesses that would no longer be possible. _____________________

Right. There are so many valuable projects and businesses that would no longer be possible. ![]() I imagine a flat tier-fee scheme would be the equivalent of armageddon to a middleman who depends on that inequality to sell land to others. Couple that with the tens of thousands of dollars of land land you must own and I bet you're wondering if your business could begin a slow and painful slide into bankruptcy with the change. Imagine trying to sell off all that land to unburden yourself and as you do the value of the land begins to plummet. I bet this news has you laying awake at night staring at the ceiling. ![]() ~Ulrika~ _____________________

From Philip's comments on how valuable he thinks user created communities like Anshe's are I can't imagine they're going to do something to completely scuttle them and cause a giant land crash. How they're going to manage an eventual switch to a flat per meter fee (if they decide to do it) without wreaking havoc is going to be a tough one to figure out. Glad it's not my job. But have a little faith people.

Personally, I welcome the change. The small user has been subsidizing the large land-owner for years and remember, I say this as someone who is a coowner of a sim who also rents out land (see forum sig). It will be painful for some but in the end it will prevent middlemen from intercepting LL's revenue stream, improving the health of their company and bringing an end to the days of the land barons.
The differential between the largest and smallest tier is obscene and should be eliminated. ![]() ~Ulrika~ _____________________
