Yes, a simply rotation about the global Z axis when clicked should fix the problem. Maybe have people register their preference beforehand, and have a proximity sensor to ensure it is the right way round for the current user.

Nothing worse than getting in a hurry and forgetting to check if theres TP available. Kinda sucks when youre sitting there with a dirty bum waddling to where the TP is kept, thats why I always have an extra roll within reach.... LOL

I've found that guys usually are Over, and Under types are usually gals. I don't understand why anyone would want it Under, as it makes grabbing the free end much more difficult. But since guys often pee standing up, having the free end just an inch or two higher up can prevent several varieties of mishap while trying to reach the TP.

Can any Under person give a rational reason for why?

I had a huge, ongoing fight with a female roommate over the over/under thing. Grounds for divorce is right. The thing that killed me was that while I had a prefectly rational justification for over, she had none at all for under, and refused to even make one up. We finally settled on whoever replaces the roll can hang it however they want. So when the roll was about half used, she would throw out the old one and install a new one hanging under. This tale has a biblically unhappy ending, but that's for another installment of The Psycho Roommate From Hell.

Back in the days before I was married, there were a couple of times when I shared the ol domicile... I had (I think) a rather unique way of dealing with it.

Seeing the way I hang the bastard is 'whichever way it ends up' - and it's such a hot button issue... I would just leave the roll on the cistern.

I would merrily do that until the other person hung it, and observed...

On the occasion when they would complain 'why didn't you put the tp on the spindle?', I'd just reply 'Apathy......'

There was never a comeback :)
