Looking for freedom

I struck up a friendship with a person, and every time I logged on, I would get an IM inviting me to TP to their location. It was fun for a while, but then it got boring.
Now I want some freedom, and can''t seem to shake the person.
We don't share calling cards, so how does he/she know I'm in world?

Main question- is there a way to get some freedom back? (Other than new account).

I agree with Enabran... If polite hints don't work give them a less polite hint.

When they offer a tp hit decline. Tell them you are busy. Soon enough they will get tired of you.

Friendships work like callcards used to. They can still see a pop-up when you log in and find you on the world-map.

If the guy doesnt quit after you tell him to stop, just erase him from your Friends list. That'll do it.

Put him to task doing things for you. The moment he realizes you're going to expect him to WORK, he'll run like an angry Linden was on his heels...

BTW- Jeffry Gomez says *get an Alt*... isn't that a new account, or am I mistaken?
I would love to have a way to occasionally log on to work on building, etc, without socializing, distractions, etc. (Yeah, I know, *buy land* might help).

Just simply tell this person that you would like some freedom. Its not too much to ask for and the worst that can happen is that they will get pissed off and leave you alone anyways.

For the record, I (almost) never accept blind teleport offers without an IM first. For them to be doing that to you is just plain rude. It is not rude to decline.

Hey Rmike! Yes, alt means an "alternative account", one that you may use to exist in SL on a less-discreet basis instead of having to respond to each and every IM you get with a "sorry, I'm busy!". Even if you're not in (BUSY) mode, it can be convenient to sometimes be a wallflower and see the world go by lazily.

My good friend Kex Godel the ever-helpful has her own solution consisting of a custom title. You can create a custom group and then give yourself a title, i.e. in my case I've named myself "TORBOT JL-2086 / Torley Torgeson" for all those robotic cravings. You can indicate yourself as (SEMI-AFK) or (BUSY BUILDING) or whatever. She wears it in the Welcome Area so you can see proof as practice as it stands . . .

Lots of fun there.

As for "log in to build without distractions," I'm working on something like that... but if I told you, I'd have to kill you.

LMAO - that's what my mother used to do to me when she wanted me out of her hair. Good one Foolish.

Sometimes when I want to work and a lot of people are stopping by my place, I'll set my status to "busy". If someone is persistant, (which has only happened once), I log out and then come back 15 or 20 minutes later. I hate to be rude or discourage people from visiting, then again, there are times when I just have to get some things done.

The alt is an ok idea, the only problem with that is they don't have my inventory and it's not practical when I'm creating things.

The only absolutely sure way that I know of to get rid of someone in either RL or SL is to tell them you are selling Amway. That usually does it.
