Perhaps a good name for this business product would be Monetization Platform 3D, nickname could be MP3.

I guess we should all be happy we're in Second Life, and that we aren't in Third Life....

That would totally suck..

In Third life, you have to wait in long lines for "prims" that are really just twigs.

Ever notice how many online games now have 3 letter abbreviations (or TLA's)..

for instance:

TSO and WOW

perhaps we could learn from this and persuade LL to throw another letter into SL..

Like 'Second Online Life'... that would give us the very apt abbreviation:

S.O.L

S-EL? :D

Don't forget SWG, and CoH.... On another note, a game called Planetside (and FPS) I used to play has 2 letter abbreviation (PS).

Ok.. Worlds of Warcraft to WoW I can accept..

but the Planetside would be P.

I guess you could say when you were gonna play : 'Hey.. I'm off to P, wanna watch?'

Siggy.

Metaverse-Schmetaverse...

I think it's closer to 'Cyber-Space' but not quite the meaning that Gibson intended (if ya know what I mean -- nudge nudge).

On the subject of what to call SL, I think it's time to note that all that an SL competitor would have to do it name their product Third-something to steal all of SL's marketshare.

So let's call it Aleph-one Life, and then it would be abbreviated as...

Drat, that doesn't work. ;)

Furthermore, as Second Life goes to the Metaverse, and this becomes an open platform, Linden Lab risks lawsuit in court and [attachment culling] will, I repeat WILL be reverse in court.

on a side note.... I just got done reading Neuromancer a few weeks ago. I thought it was a bloody awful book! LOL Now maybe that's cuz I didn't read it when it first came out and I now have all these other preconceived notions in my head (like Snow Crash, The Matrix, Otherland, etc.), but I think Gibson's cyberspace vision is zzzz boring LOL OOO Look, a huge bright green box representing some corporation!

The China virus description was interesting though, and I did like the capability to "flip" between someone's sense-net and cyberspace, thought that was a cool idea.

You know what really sucks? 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea...I mean, it's like "oooh a submarine!" And not even a nuclear sub or anything. Verne's concept of sea travel is BORING zzzz.
