Are you really a beta tester?!

I'm starting to get just plain fed up.

Who's really here to beta test the game and who's really here because they wanted a free ride into a free game and expect everybody else to do the beta testing work?

I know we're in a stage of the beta where we aren't asked "Why should we accept you?" anymore, but I think that, as testers, there are way too many people out there who are here simply to whine, bitch, and complain, and then say "oh by the way, how do I set my visual distance" when it's RIGHT THERE IN YOUR FARKING OPTIONS MENU AARRGGHH!!!

I dunno... ignorance just seriously pisses me off... and it's even worse when I'm the ignorant one

I agree with ya dave. Too many people don't treat it as a work in progress, and think it should act and behave like a finished product. Well, ideally it should, the difference is don't whine durring a beta test if it doesn't work - submit a bug report!

thank you for that Dave. There have been oh to many idiots hoping for just another free FPS demo because they think they know how to hack after putting in a couple cheat codes.

I'm not proud of getting into my university's network back in the day, but that's one of the reason's I am beta testing here.

You think that the addition of all us new people are NOT stressing the servers or that we ARE'NT testing the game?

I get the jist of your post and it's about as arrogant as some of the older "residents" I've run into.

I think you may want to try the game we play and see just how much FPS is really involved. You will be quite surprised at the tenacity and perserverance of the "new" residents considering our background and the development background of the game we came from.

Hell....we may be "shock to the system" this game needs before it goes live. We've certainly been a shock to Hawthorne and Yuniqs bank account.

This post originated hours before the situation with WW2O folks came up. It seems to me like you're partially taking offense at something which isn't even aimed at you.. so relax!

And yes, yes, definitely keep up your testing.. I'm sure a lot of people think it's a key thing that such activity occurs well before live, and from the sounds of it they have been pretty busy today working to facilitate your enthusiasm (or I'm reading things wrong).

Lyra: Thanks for the defence even though I wasn't able to get back to you about putting you on my "I hate you" list (and you are far from being on it). Lyra, you're at least smart enough to figure stuff out on your own in this game w/o needing to ask everybody for every little thing, so you're a good tester

Darwin: You kinda missed the point. I was telling people to be smart when they came to beta test this game, not to be just another doofus who doesn't even know what "Google" is, or a person who uses AOL Broadband by choice. (If you're forced into it, I'm so very sorry).


It's just..... I always thought being a beta tester meant (in general, not overall though) that you were being nice, and playing this person's game in order to show them what's right and wrong with it as a job. And as with normal jobs, people with an IQ of 20 don't exactly make the grade.

Finally, no, this wasn't aimed at anybody specific, (even the AOL Broadband users) just generally for the people who play this game as a free ride to bother and annoy others.

Dave... Are you getting paid by LL? Beta testing is not a job unless you're getting paid. You may want to think of it that way, but it's not. Back a few months ago, yes, LL had applications because they wanted people who would test out things and try new stuff, but now they're letting in more and more people for stress testing purposes.

Also, I don't think being smart has anything to do with testing. You were once a newbie, too. How many questions did you have when you first started out? And not everyone is as familiar with computers as others.

Dave, you and some others have some kind of elitist philisophy that just lends itself to grudges, hurt feelings, and bad reputations. Instead of bashing the IQs of others, why not just stick to testing the way you want to test and leave them to do what they want to do?

with regard to the first topic some people arent as...how do u put this.........um..."up to speed " as you are about the different controls. I could understand if it was a verteran of beta testing thatsked you that but if it was a fiarly new person i see no reason to get upset. Yes they are ignorant of the controls but you should help them not condemn then and if tha are only here for the free ride, we would know that cause i see alot of people in the beta testing that seem as tho they are just along for the ride like "nuthign serious im jsut walking on by" most of the people are jsut like ima play it for a week then quit. but ican tell you rightnow i am never quiting. I could be broke as a bat (metaphor doesnt make sense) but i will still find a way to play Sl.
