You now have a player contacting other players personally threatening legal action againt them for postings in your forums, and the most productive thing you could do was to delete the thread discussing that this is going on? Let's see that makes a Nick Berg thread and now a player harassment thread deleted. What next? I appreciate how forthcoming you were when I contacted you, but having the thread deleted has just added insult to this situation, as you left Regnar's post in tact this entire time.

Wow, another interesting thread vanishes. I was on the verge of posting a comment and didn’t get the chance. I would like to say I am shocked that Regnar, or his “attorney”, actually called Cristiano and would definitely report him if he had called me. It is obvious from that one line “I am an attorney, I can do what I want” that the whole thing was a childish prank more than likely. Linden Labs does need to take things like this seriously however, and I’m not sure that deleting the thread was the best way to handle it because it leaves people like myself wondering where this will end. I would like to know what action was taken regarding this harassment, and not just see the thread vanish. I am not big on posting in these forums but I was under the impression that the reason for them was to voice one’s opinion about certain matters and let others in the game know what is going on regarding certain issues. Certainly someone threatening people or calling them and claiming to file a lawsuit is an issue I would like to be informed of, if for no other reason than to be aware of who to avoid in the game.

Regnar keeps saying he's done with SL but he is browsing this forum right now.

As a side note and legitimate thank you, I wanted to thank Candie Apple for reminding me that I have call tracing features on my phone to report the call, and for Lynn Lippman's idea of changing my registration info to my hosting company. I reported the call and will follow up with BellSouth tomorrow, and also updated my info.

Wow. I missed the thread entirely. Sorry he is harrasing you Cris. Wow. I just don't know what to say. I can't even think of what could possibly be the "charges". Or why anyone would waste money on an attorney when there is literally no case. It is a shame the thread was deleted. Sometimes the deletion of a thread does more harm than good.

And I know my post in the original thread was deleted because I had quoted Regnar's post in its entirety. By deleting his posts but leaving all of ours, and snipping our quotes of his words out, then the thread makes no sense and should have just been deleted fully rather than chopped up, or left fully in tact. I know the Lindens seem to have trouble deciding which is the best course of action to take with various threads. So I guess it is bound to happen that they will make the wrong choices sometimes.

if that was a setup of sorts it will twist my warped mind all the more.....that whole thing just fishy......and not a peep from one Linden...just a removal of the thread as if it never happened. Strange...........

If your initial post was in the public forum section, Cris, LL most likely removed it because they don't want the outside world to see what's going on. They may also be considering legal action and want to limit public exposure of this incident. It's ludicrous that someone would contact you in this manner if he truly were a legal professional with a leg to stand on.

As someone else said, I'd think seriously about filing a police report or asking for a restraining order if I were you; however, I'm betting LL advised you of that same thing.

It's a shame you had to experience this, Cris. And isn't it ironic that Regnar has removed his personal information from his profile in-world because he says there that somebody tried to mess with him? How hypocritical can you get?

I understand that - but then move the thread, don't delete it. What I am curious about is whether they hide threads and make them inaccessible, or fully delete it. The thread contained Regnar commenting on where my unlisted phone # was available, and also admitting that he called. I posted to warn the other people involved in the thread with Regnar in case he contacted anyone else, as I was hardly the hardest on Regnar in that thread. Hopefully how quickly I went to LL and public about it will keep him from doing so. As of yet I have not filed a police report, I did file an abusive call report with my phone co. and had them trace the call. Anything beyond that right now is overkill I think, the experience just reminds me of how far over the line things can go and how important it is to protect your own privacy. Lessons learned.

I also asked the Lindens to intervene on that thread. Why?

1. The thread was about a potential lawsuit over personal attacks, and both parties to it were saying things that could affect the case.

2. FURTHER personal defamation was engaged in by both parties and by others.

3. It was all taking place in a public forum where Linden Lab's PR could also be affected.

I am not surprised they killed it as the whole thing could blow up and have dragged in all kinds of people.

Thank you so much for your intervention request. You overlooked the fact that Regnar was potentially going after every person who posted against him in a thread, and those involved had a right to be notified that this was going on. Have someone from these forums get your home telephone number and call you up pretending to be an attorney, threatening you and see how non-chalant you will be about the whole thing then.

Actually that is another reason why I did report it. This is one situation I was definitely not nonchalant about. I could very easily see myself next on the list.

I think the whole thing is a sham......along with the call that Cris received.

I just want to know why.....to see who would respond and how....and....Cris....a professional attorney would not call you. Especially if your number is not publicated....they would however....contact LL and make means of how to contact you via mail.

I really think that this should die out now...I wish they would have pulled the thread from the get go......I feel so protective over all of you......and of this crazy place we call second life. I did let the thread drive my emotions. I feel abit bad really on how I hung on the nasty thread. I really am ashamed....I have tried so hard lately to always put my best foot forward. To avoid conflicts...not to be sucked into bannter with individuals that will never change their stance. The thread could have been more productive.....but I hope Cris you dont regret it....it is a big learning lesson and insight and I really think that in the end....we all come together and stood by one another.....and that is a wonderful thing.

Y'know, I believe in most states, it's illegal to impersonate an attorney, jsut as it is illegal to impersonate a doctor, a police officer, or any other similar occupation.

It's only illegal to claim to be an archetect in the Real World, not in Second life. Now, when someone calls on the phone claiming to be a lawyer in RL, it's illegal. In SL if someone claims they are a lawyer (for in-world claims), then it's just laughable.
