-Famous computer scientists
-Famous battles of famous wars (Midway, Appatomox, Wounded Knee, Waterloo, Stalingrad, etc)
-cheeses (HAD to mention this again, such a good idea... I think I would outright have to buy a cheese sim)
-particles
-elements
-famous leaders / historical figures

Just had an inspiration to name them after the seven dwarves:

Happy
Dopey
Grumpy
Bashful
Doc
Sneezey
Sleepy

I would like to be able to own land on each one and live according to my moods!

OR the reindeer:

Dasher
Dancer
Comet
Prancer
Vixen
Cupid
Donder
Blitzen
Rudolph
Fireball
Olive
(the last two are new in recent years - or so I have herd - spelling intended as a PUN)

Early greek gods (pre-olympians), later roman & early Egyptian are plentifull, and full of easy to pronounce/remember yet culturally once very important.

HP Lovecraft placenames

Staying away from the gods and character names I was able to come up with names of Inns, towns, ancient metropolitan cities, geographic locations, pubs, streets and institutions.

Khem
Dunwich
Dacia
Arkham
Knight’s Head
Uzuldaroum
Commoriom
Innsmouth
Yhe
R'lyeh
Round Hill
Olathoe
Miskatonic
Leng
Irem
Crowningshield
Al Azif
Bolton
Federal (oh wait, have that one)
Boardman (oh, ditto)
Exham
K'n-yan
Thayer
Pond

WHEW!!!!

If I were to hit character surnames and the gods in the Cthulhu Mythos it would be easily possible to make this list 20 times longer.

I would endorse Aimee's idea of the names of planets. Also some stars and nebulae have very attractive names.

How about international sims with non-Roman characters and lots of diacritical marks? Or "the sim formerly known as"... ;)
