Has anybody else noticed, after playing SL for a prolonged period of time, that they've been getting more dreams where they are flying instead of walking? I walk and run and drive a lot in my dreams, and flying is mostly a rarity. But as of late I've been noticing I do it a lot more in my dreams. It's not just dreams about SL, but regular life, I'm just flying around, and moving my hand forward and tapping where an "f" key would be seems to let me drop back down to land lol.

So, this happening to you? :D

Alt-zooming on .bmps

I have gotten in this weird habit of looking at a .bmp/.gif/.jpg etc.... and deciding that I want a closer look at it, so obviously I press the alt-key and start moving the mouse forward. For some odd reason, I can't manipulate the picture beyond the 2-d plane.
It usually takes me a second to realize that I'm not in world......

Weird.

I should get some sleep. or coffee.

Yesterday I went back to 3dstudio for the first time in a week or so and I kept trying to use alt and ctrl moves to look around.

Lol!

Haha yes Dave, I've had that happen. Also, now that I'm modelling a lot again, I can't walk around anywhere without looking at buildings, cars, sidewalks, and breaking them apart in my head. Standing on line in the post office renewing a passport I found myself holding up the line because I was trying to figure out how to replicate the highly polished marble floor in game, and then realizing that to do it I'd need at least an environment map to reflect the surroundings, but maybe if I added a light flare in photoshop just right so it didn't get cut off at the edges...

I keep dreaming of being at the Linden Lab office. Same dream everytime. All the LL Employees are in a meeting, discussing extending the hours. I am outside the room, waving my arms trying to get their attention. Haney comes out to ask me to leave, but, when I dont, he forces me out. While I am outside, waiting for a bus, I meet a dentist and his wife from New Jersey. Then I get hit by a double decker bus. So weird...

I've some weird dreams when I played Ultima Online too long, but with SL I usually play until I'm ready to go into coma and I really can't remember what I dreamed about the next morning (or evening, or whenever I wake up)

I had a great SL dream the other night and towards the end of it I found myself inside a dojo very much like the one in The Matrix. Dave and Yuniq were in there battling it out with kendo sticks, hehe. The look on Dave's face was so intense, I couldn't believe it so I took a snapshot. But when the snapshot finally uploaded it came out with the details blurred, like in the movie The Ring (if you've seen it).

Haha... dreams rule.

Today in my English class, we were watching Emma, and often in that movie, the camera pans, and ever time it happened, I saw a square magnifying glass with a plus sign in it, per SL.

Other effects...
04-15-2003 22:32
Other Crossover effects into real life for me are the butterfly effect in my stomach when jumping off a tall object (flying doesn't do this for some reason) and a sense of clostrafobia when moving my avatar into a confined space.

One other thing... sometimes I walk up to my front door or even my mailbox and instinctively reach for the little remote car door-unlock gadget on my keychain. I know I didn't do this before using VR software. I think its related to constant interaction with "objects" using the mouse.

Or it could be just old age. :)

Only one dream...
04-16-2003 08:53
I've only had one dream, well, one kind. I've had the same dream over and over again. I'm at a local beach in real life and just sitting there. Then I decide to go swimming. But instead of floating on the water. I walk right into it, and never have to come back up for air @@;;

I once dreamed I was playing WWIIOL, then I woke up at the keyboard and found out I WAS playing WWIIOL. I had been running in the same direction for about 2 and a half hours lol

So I'm at work, and I see a LARGE group of people from different departments gathered around someone's desk. Something's up. Some of the people I know, some I don't. I didn't want to interrupt them, because it's none of my business what's going on, but on the other hand, I wanted to know what was going on.

My brain kept going "there's something you can do here", but I couldn't figure out what it was. When I got back to my desk, I realized that what I wanted to do was IM one of the people in the group I knew and ask them what was going down.

I keep having SL flux into my other games. I was playing Morrowind and I couldn't figure out why I couldn't sit on my bed... I slept 3 times in an attempt to sit.

Last night I had a really dorky dream involving both WW2OL and SL.. :/

I was in some country town, and I started jogging along the road. I saw a bunch fo stuff, but nothing interesting really happened until I got to the edge of town.

As I was running down this hill, I heard the sound that the projectiles in this game make when they hit a surface close to you. I turned around to see 4-5 AI AT guns ( artificual-intelligence anti-tank guns, for you non WW2OL players - they're all over in WW2OL) facing me, obviously defending the town I was leaving from an attack (?!??!).

So I jump to the town and try moving toward them so I can get behind them, where I'd be safe. As I start crawling, they keep firing. I hear that funny popping sound, and those little brightly-colored orbs are flying toward me. I look "down" and see my health is slowly going down from 100%. Within seconds, I'm dead......but I don't remember anything after that. :)
