Would your rather be smarter or better looking?

A genie offers you one of two wishes- you can either become extremely attractive or extremely smart. Which of the two do you pick, and why?

Personally I'd like to be smarter. I'd like to learn and understand new things more quickly.

Question: Is the genie just giving us the Smarts or Looks....or do we have to sacrifice one for the other?

I mean, I'm relatively satified with my smarts....so I'd go for Looks. Unless I had to become a bimbo to get 'em.

No sacrifices. You either get a "bonus" in the looks department or the brains department, without hurting the department you didn't choose.

In that case, looks. I am afraid of the increase in intelligence. My mind is on overload and works on the Kelly Bundy theory as it is now. So if something new came in, something old would have to go. LOL

I'd have to go for looks. I already have women tripping over themselves to get a look at me and my nice tushy, but damnit I wanna see them fall down!!

I went for looks because I'm already frustrated by being smarter than the average bear

The choice I'd really want would be for women I find attractive to be more intelligent and have better taste!

Actually...althought I voted for intelligence, the more I think about it, the more I realize that my intelligence during my life might really not be nearly as important as enjoying life and being happy. And many really good looking people seem to really enjoy life and be happy. Not all of course, but many doors open to those that have a winning smile and good looks.

Sometimes I equate intelligence with the ability to look around you and think deeply about what you see. And more and more often these days, thinking about individual's actions, societies actions, Goverment's actions and the actions and implications of humanity world-wide, brings me a feeling of hopeless desperation rather than happiness.

So might it not be a better life, to go through it with folks being attracted to you and wanting your attentions, while you bask in it and happily go about life, than to really do alot of thinking about what has been, what is, and what might be.

Of course not all intelligent people are unhappy, and by no means are all beautiful people dumb. But for stereotypes...ignorance could indeed be bliss..and beauty might bring happiness.

I chose look better. So far being "smart and intelligent" has been the most common line used on me just before they say, "I'll call you sometime" and then they never do.

I don't need to be smarter or better looking, I need to be harder working and more motivated. You don't need to be einstein in order to succeed, you need to be driven.

I am very much of the opinion that I wish I had been born less intelligent.

Intelligence is not all that rewarding. I dont make any more money then any of the people I work with , even the ones whose brain's figuartively smoke when they try to think. Other things then direct intelligence are needed for promotions and higher salaries.

The ability to theorize about the universe and the human's role in it isnt really all that useful. It simply helps contribute to a fear of death. How many stupid aethiest and agnostic people have you met?

Literally a lack of intelligence would help you accept religeon and a promise of an afterlife, think of all the stress that would be removed if you can blankly know your "going to haeven becuase youve been good."

You also worry abotu world events, the motives of your country the integrity of your leaders.

An unintelligent person can simply answer "I love my country" to ANY question of government. No further explaination in their mind is needed.

They dont care why , how , or IF, things should work or not. They are of the push this button, make it go mindset.

So like I said - Ignorance is Bliss, sign me up.

Since im not allowed to pick retroctively through life being less intelligent sadly, Ill pick more intelligent. Maybe If i can become smart enough to know WHY things seem this way it would be useful.

We are of like minds on this issue. Although I have to admit, I find intelligence, imagination and wit in a woman to be very, very sexy.

I chose brains. With a modest boost, I figure I could crack the universal field theorum and then start manufacturing anti-gravity brassiers. That, I feel, would make me popular enough with men AND women that I wouldn't need beauty.

I think I chose looks is that I am pretty secure in my intelligence factor and I agree, I am not making any more money than half the morons I work with.

So if I am going to get a wish, and dump trucks of money is not an option, then yeah I will go with looks. Now if dump trucks of money were an option, then I would take that only because when you have dump trucks of money no one cares how you look. ha ha

Oh I had to laugh, I would def prefer the dump trucks of money, then like you said who cares how you look and if you still do well you can afford to fix it...but beware less ye look like Joan Rivers or worse MJ!

While I agree that being smarter exposes someone to unsettling truths, being unintelligent puts you at the mercy of any corrupt creep who wants to manipulate you- be it a powerful polition, a charismatic religious leader, or a crooked salesperson.

That being said, if you still wish to lower your intelligence, start watching a lot of soap operas or reality TV. Less painful than smacking yourself in the head with a board

Sure, gorgeous women are fun, or at least great visually, in a sexual context, but what happens after that? Talking, sharing, walking, watching films, discussing books, going out on the town, laughing, being silly, growing as people..etc..etc..

Although I do like to take care of my appearance and hygiene and look for that in a lover as well.

Although in my experience, some really good looking women have been coddled, and expect to get by on looks in bed and aren't that great. Imagination and humor and openess make for fun times between the sheets..

Someone at my side that "gets it" is far, far more attractive than someone at my side that's busy looking at her reflection in a store window to make sure she looks great.
