You know, I've heard for a week now that this new log-o-fon or what ever it was called p layers would log in during the hour and get paid, 4500 in game money. Now I've talked to a few people and I'm not the only one who thought this.
I mean let's face it why would you waste your time loging in at t he same time as everyone else if you were not going to get paid.
Then someone tells me in live help chat that there will be no money given out.
So I feel like i've been the vicim of a cruel joke along with everyone else who beleaved this, in my opion Second life should of been more clear and up front about this, not everyone comes to the forums and reads everything you know.
All I can say is last time I'm doing this.
Let me know what you guys think,

Edmund Shanter It was crystal clear. The only benefit to logging in was the gizmo-gadget-widget they had mentioned. They didn't even announce a special account this time. Without any real incentive to come in-world, I decided to stay out.

I think if a many people were under the impression they were going to get paid, then it strongly suggests that there are many people in need of improving thier reading comprehension skills. I stayed logged in over that hour for two main reasons: - I am very interested in how this system responds to stress.
- I'm just a hopeless SL addict who would have been on anyway.
So, there are reasons other than simply getting a few L$ for spending time in-world to help stress the system.

Well you did the smart thing, see I don't read the forums offten, and people were passing it around log in and stay for the full hour and you get paid 4500 in money, so I was like yea but it's cool when I said they should of been more clear about it what I mean is when it began they should of put it in the statement not just that it would begen. And if they did I missed it. Just drives me nuts that I loged in and stayed in for that amout of time for basicy nothing lol But I learned one thing Never doing this again, from now on i'm sticking to my reg game play.

I don't think they reached there max, could be due to many not being on due to that storm wiping out so many people's homes and what not.
Personaly tho I woudln't of joined just to help the sys I mean if you ask me that's not my job, that's the people's job who run the game hehe
but don't get me wrong I do care that the servers are stable but i'm still a little upset about not getting my 4500 cries
hehe I"ll get over it,

When I checked, 3160. Pa-the-tic. Also pathetic that I forgot to check throughout the hour and only got 3 samples in during the last 5 minutes. I think the primary attractor last time was the charter-member style account. The gods know it wasnt' the benshee (No affront to Ben, but a little novelty isn't really going to be a big attractor.) so the widjit this time 'round isn't much motivation. Next time, I'd suggest a one-hour span and a really attractive prize. And maybe some incentives for the content makers to throw some interesting evets.

I think this thread deserves a prize for the most something-or-other thread ever. Though I'm not quite certain what.

Edmund Shanter When did the Lindens ever promise $L4500 to everyone that logged in? That's insane, and would break the economy even more than it is now. And yes, it's your job to "fix the system", because if it doesn't work, and you don't report bugs, it doesn't get fixed, and you can't log in. SL is still in its "pioneering" phase, the folks coming in now will affect it for many years afterwards. This is Oregon Trail stuff. Login Failure: You have died of Dysentary LF

From: Edmund Shatner I don't think they reached there max, could be due to many not being on due to that storm wiping out so many people's homes and what not. I think there is a different reason, which may have lost them quite a few forum-junkies. I missed it, because I forgot. But I rely on "Announcements" to remind me of such things. In this instance no reminder was posted after the last announcement, five days ago. A mistake which cost them a few attendees, I think. So when I checked earlier, any mention was way, way down the page, and no reminder at all. I'm sad, because I like to help in these things. In fact, I think we should all try to induce maximum grid stress as they request. Even to the point that those of us with alts should log them all in simultaneously, up to the max our computers and links will support. That's what I did last time. My forum-posting-take-the-flack alt. My socializing alt. My creative I'm-not-really-here alt. And...hold on...IS there another? Perhaps its my poor forgotten alt ? Don't think I made a separate business alt. It was Prok started me on my first alt. Trying to get some protection from his abuse. He now maintains a blacklist of people he thinks are me. Visible in certain of his mall land bans. Quite a few of whom are wrongly accused, poor things. Based in part I think on similarities in forum posting style. Which is pretty funny in view of what I sometimes think I see still going on here From then on it was all downhill for me, into a life of crime and deceit......... Least I confess it. PS The 4500 wasn't pure invention. It was the attendance target. Just how silly can people, plus word of mouth, be ? And to complain here....well ! Now where's that darn prize?

From: someone In this instance no reminder was posted after the last announcement, five days ago. A mistake which cost them a few attendees, I think. This comment makes me wonder if it would be possible for us to choose to have reminders for events mentioned in the forums. Something along the lines of a button labled "Want a reminder?" that would cause us to get maybe an email reminder and a reminder inworld. I was on a list that Trimming Hedges maintained for some games (which he seems to have stopped or else I got dropped from the list, now I have to check on that) and I really liked that, a reminder a little in advance like a day or so, then one about an hour in advance, then one for "Get a move on now if your coming". We have a better search engine for the forums than we do for the events list inworld If we could get something as wonderful as a boolean search for the events we might be able to find the things we want and skip past the other 90 percent. Shoot, I might even have been online during the whole event, did they not even mention it at all? I stayed at Island Sandbox most of the day.

I think the 4500 was the total number os residents inworld that they were shooting for. And I was there not only because I am a hopeless SL addict and these types of strees tests are important to verify the grid can handle us all and our bling and our hoochi prim hair and our vehicles and our textures and our particles and.... the list goes on. The way I look at it, I was there anyway so it was a bonus that the test happened while I was in world. As for incentive, I wish Microsoft was so diligent about testing and improving their products as LL is. Then perhaps Windows would actually work right.

Trimming is just taking a break due to time constraints. The announcements will start up again when/if he goes back to doing events. I remember this from an email of an IM he sent to his "mailing list". /off topic - sorry, had just wanted to sneak this in.

I agree, how about bringing back Linden support for the hour for all events, that'd get em going.. I loved the idea of winning something SL branded in RL (e.g. special limited edition pewter Second Life pendant with leather necklace). And a charter account, but I missed that one Now all I've got is the promise of a Widgizmo, wtf is a Widgizmo anyway?

When I read it I never saw anything about getting money, it was very clear to me that it was a widgizmo we would get sent to us for being logged in for 30 minutes.
I also try to read the linden announcements every other day.

Edmund Shanter erm, no offense, but you're complaining about something you heard, without reading anything official about the login. perhaps you should read the linden announcements about such events, rather than base your knowledge on hearsay.

And a charter account, but I missed that one You can't win a Charter Account. All that means is that you opened your account during beta. A Charter Account can be basic, premium, or lifetime, just like everyone else, but there's nothing special to it other than what it says on your profile.
