With the NFL season approaching I'm starting to wonder, would anyone like to join an SL Fantasy Football League on Yahoo Sports.

We could meet in SL to have a draft, and periodically meet inworld to chat bout football and the league. Any takers?

This was talked about a year ago and nothing happened.

I am in if you can get enough peeps and the draft doesn't conflict with my other leagues. Need a minimum of 10 people, preferably 12-14, need a set of rules and a commissioner (I assume you) to run the league. Want to do it for money or just for fun?

I would be interested as well. I do, however, envision problems with having a sit down draft in-world do to scheduling problems. Yahoo's pre-rank draft system might have to suffice for some people. I know, not the best, but I think it would be hard to get enough people otherwise.

I've never done a fantasy league, but would give it a try if you set it up. I say we play for $$$.

You can do a live draft online or actually meet inworld, I volunteer my home, and do it live that way. Might be fun that way the more I think about it. We need probably a 3 hour window.

The pre-set lists suck because you can't adjust it in the middle of the draft according to what others are doing and you might wind up drafting a 3rd RB when you would rather go for a QB next etc....

A live draft shouldn't be a big problem. I am for money too. Maybe $100 a head as a suggestion. Might as well start an owners list & see if we get enough peeps committed to do it.

Owners List:
Satchmo
Billy
Gabe
Schwanson

Minimum 6 more needed but 10 is a small league and the talent pool isn't very deep. I prefer 14 team leagues but 12 would be ok too.

Satchmo, do you want to be the commish or would you rather someone else do it?

If there is a Linden who is interested in being an owner and would agree to hold/pay out the money for the league that would be very cool or if not I completely trust Schwanson who is a well known, honorable guy in my book.

I totally agree and this is what I was originally thinking.

I can be the commisioner if no one else wants to, otherwise it might be good if someone else did it.

Putting money on the league seems like a natural thing to do in SL, and I'm cool with the default Yahoo rules for public leagues but I'm open to changes on the scoring system as well.

Just to clarify, someone named "hele Hare" IM'd you inworld and is in?

I have run leagues before and would be happy to help you set it up or just do it if you are not comfortable running a league.

I have used nfl.com in almost every league I am a part of and would recommend using that as a league manager. It is very reliable and has a live scoring window that's awesome during the games. It cost $129.95 if we set it up by 8-24 or add $20.00 after that. This fee would come out of the money we pay to be in the league. The rest is paid out to the winner/s. Usually the commissioner’s fee is waved for his/her trouble but if I do it I don’t mind paying the fee at least the first year.

$100.00 is a relitavely low amount for a franchise fee for a league. Is everyone ok with that so far?

I am not familiar with yahoo's site. I would recommend reviewing the standard rules for any site and making some minor adjustments where it makes sense.

Updated Owners List:
Satchmo
Billy
Gabe
Schwanson
hele

I am cool w/ the $100. The rest of this is Greek to me. I'll take the effort to learn once we get closer to having enough people.

It's a hoot and really fun if you love NFL football. You will love it Schwan!

We need to get enough owners by Sunday to put it all together I think, otherwise it might be hard to organize in a couple of days.

Why pay $129? Yahoo! Fantasy Leagues are free and super easy to set-up and manage. I second Satchmo's suggestion to use Yahoo!
I am already in three money leagues, so depending on how you set it up I might consider it.

How about an in-world meeting to discuss the possibilities?

I am free tonight at 10:15 eastern time if anyone wants to meet.

I simply have never used or know anything about the yahoo league manager. If you have used it and can vouch for it being good I am ok with that. I recommend NFL.com (sportsline.com) because I have used it for the last 5 years in at least 2 leagues a year. I know it is excellent, easy to use, has great features.

Are we to consider you in Sextus?

Have used Yahoo for fantasy baseball, with everyday transactions and lineup set up. Extremely easy and reliable. Have also used various pay sites for football with equal success.

I'm open to other options, but Yahoo's private fantasy leagues seemed to be sufficient.

Those of us who can make it, should meet tonight at 7:15 Game Time. Anyone wanna select a good location?

Conrad Hatfield has a place (sports bar type) for football watching/gathering. Might be interested. Armand Oud possibly.

Update for all interested.

We met last night and discussed some issues. We are going to use the Yahoo site because it is free and someone uses it for baseball and vouches for it.

1. Satchmo Prototype will be the commissioner
2. Schwanson Schnagel will be responsable for holding and distributing the money
3. We need 10 teams minimun, 12-14 preferably
4. We will hold a live draft in-world this Sunday - gather at 6:00, draft starts at 6:15
5. If we do not have 10 owners minimum by then we will delay the draft
6. Franchise fee: $100.00
7. Winner of the Super Bowl wins 75%
8. Loser of the Super Bowl wins 24%
9. Satchmo will have the sole discretion to bust any lopsided trade or settle any dispute
10. Trades and free agents are free and unlimited

You beat me to it Billy!

Send me an email at Satchmo.Prototype@gmail.com if you are interested, and I can give you an invite to the leauge.

It would also be good for you to post your interest on this thread, so it's easy for the group to keep a running count of owners.

I am hoping you mean that the draft is 6 PM SL time and not EST on Sunday....

Despite the hurricane coming at us, we have decided to go to Disney World this weekend. I will be back late Sunday afternoon, though the rains may delay us slightly. Please let me know.

Satchmo.....your PM's and email option are turned in the forums. :-(

I was trying to send you this along w/ my email....

How bad does it screw this up if we do the draft on Wenesday or later....I am running into an issue w/ this hurricane, and may have to reschedule my Disney trip for SAT-TUE. I'll find a computer in Orlando if need be, but rescheduling would be more enjoyable.

Also...it is VERY important someone post the rules for this league asap. I need to start picking my guys, and I have NO idea how many of each position I need to pick. It is my understanding that these rules vary greatly from league to league.

Sorry fixed that.

We can change the draft date if a hurricane is going to interfere with your plans.

Rules posted above.

It would take a lot of pressure off me if we can postpone it, even if just for a day.
Thanks.
