As most people know, the limit for objects is 4000m. I wrote some scripting and designed a hand-held device called 'Self-Launcher'. Right now I'm still playing around with it and beta testing but this thing is crazy. I recently achieved a height of 130,000 meters above the Island Sandbox. You slowly see the horizon slip away and then suddenly, bright blue from above you. These images were all from 120-130km range: Feeling Boxed In Far View High Altitude Symptoms A Squarish World Me in front of the Sun My Infamous Launcher The Line In the near future I am planning tours to 100km and beyond. On average it takes 32 minutes to achieve 100km. Currently I am not giving away/selling the Self-Launcher because it is still under much testing. Howerver, I am selling a 10km version which is GREAT for skydivers. Strap on a parachute and drag the launcher to your avie, say a voice command and away you go, no need for a rocket or drop ship. Contact Eric Penguin for a Self-Launcher. The price is currently 100L. -Eric Penguin

That is really cool. Maybe you could sell it to all of the advertizers so they could put their obnoxious signs where we can't see them.

Very nice pictures. You have an eye for attractive screenshots. I've been up to a little over one million meters. It requires a lot of patience and probably isn't worth the trip.

Actually it was pretty simple. I just set llSetBuoyancy to 100. I fly around 55m/s.

Is it just me, or does it sorta look like the edges of a box in those snapshots?

A long time ago at 1.3 or so I've set off to a journey with a good friend of mine and managed to reach 1 mil. Things go extremly bizzare at that altitude.
Alas, we were not the first, either. I cant remember who it was, but some people have done this as far back as beta.

I've got a motorcycle I made as a proof-of-concept vehicle that will break the virtual sound barrier. 250 m/s is hardly the limit. Safe to drive, no, but fun in that milisecond before you ghost your avatar and the bike goes offworld. *edit* On followup testing, you may be right. While it used to exceed 600 mph, it now caps out at 599.24 every time. There must have been a new limitation imposed sometime between 1.3 and now. Poo. Now this thing isn't near as cool

I used about 16 31 prim objects with each prim pushing max....I reached 11 million meters in about 45 minutes.....hit me up in-world for some nice pics ....currently, I have an open source (tis simple anyway) backpack that uses the same method, with a click on/off/down switch you can take a look at. Good signs are maxing out llGetVel(), happens at 250m/s, and having to shout commands to your attachments because of the speed of sound or something You know you're high when it thte screen starts blinking, llSetText doesn't work.....and you can't even shout to your attachments.

How do you use llSetForce? Is that the only command needed?

Ah, alright. Thanks, I was on the documentation trying to decide if I should put TRUE or FALSE. Thanks.

Hmm that doesn't seem to work. Code compiled and I dragged it to myself but I don't go anywhere.

Here's my Code:
default { on_rez(integer param) { llResetScript(); } state_entry() { llSetForce(<0,0,999999>, FALSE); llSetTimerEvent(60.0); } timer() { llDetachFromAvatar(); } }

My WARP 2 speed boost will boost you up there at 250 m/s. Just say "/go to 1000000" to go to a million meters, for example. Yes, that was shameless self-promotion.

That'd be funny if when you went high enough you crashed through the skybox and found yourself in the middle of Linden Lab (even if it was only a texture)
