I've yet to encounter a true Conservative in these forums. A true Conservative (or Republican) would be deeply horrified at George Bush's Presidency.
I actually respect and admire REAL conservatives.
And sadly, yes. Carter was actually the last decent man (and liberal) we've had as a President. Think what a marvelous country we would have had if only we had followed his energy policies and not sold ourselves out to the greedy corporative mindset.

Carter is a good man with good ideas who was hamstrung as President by being a true Beltway outsider (as opposed to being a lifelong political hack pretending to be an outsider). I don't even know if it's possible to be an effective President anymore without exuding a thick coating of grease. I certainly hope so... but it looks like even our respected Supreme Court nominees have past lives of slimy mudslinging in the service of shadowy agendas.

The concept of "right and wrong" transcends political opinion. But if "people aligned with me" means those who don't swear fealty to one political party over the other, then you're being accurate. I find it very odd that some people can never seem to disagree with their "side" and never seem to ever agree with "the enemy"; I just don't understand that. I do think that not taking sides on the political spectrum is better. What are the odds that one political group is always right and the other is always wrong? Not good... (well impossible really) much better if you avoid swearing loyalty to one or the other and you're free to choose your opinions independently. Yeah, sometimes I think the evil conservatives are right, and other times I think the loony liberals are right, call me crazy, but...
