What is with the overly huge lips?

I've noticed that many of the female avvies, especially the younger set, have these over-sized lips...wondering why the trend and where it comes from...to me...it looks grotesque...but again, only my opinion...no need to flame me about my opinion...I am curious tho'...why?

Because all their boyfriends have overly huge...

It's reflective of the rl trend; think Anjelina Jolie. It's been suggested that the best supporting actress award go to the woman who does the best job supporting the weight of her lips.

It is the Angelina Jolie effect.

Even Angelina doesn't have morbidly oversized lips...they are big, but not gross.

I think I have found the secret. Wuvme Karuna has been doing newbie makeovers, and she is a proponent of big lips, behold:

Angelina Jolie looks fucking gross if you ask me. Plus she's a mental case.

This is in reverse though, the Bratz are surfin the trend, not starting it.

I vote for Angelina Jolie starting it and heavy promotion of lip collagen treatments in old Hollywood USA. Even though I wouldn't chuck Angelina out of bed, her lips are freakishly large IMO.

And hers are only half the size of the Avatar lips you are referring to!

I have been wanting to ask this same question. I love the makeups of these talented creators but the lips just do not fit what I would be seen as. Hence I have not invested.

I have wondered if the lips are 'slider to smaller' but I figured they were not.

I too thought along the same lines - that their bf's were enjoying a lot of .... hmmmmm and the lips were swollen.... ?

I really don't like the look of overly big lips either and I see more and more of it. Sometimes I want to ask the person if they are supposed to be that big or if they just don't know how they look to others. I helped a newbie once downsize her lips because she didn't realize how big she had made them. It was like the old wax lips you would get at Halloween or something. So I said, Oh honey are your lips supposed to be that big? I sent her a snapshot and she said OMG They are HUGE! So she had no clue. But I don't say anything to people who are not new because I assume they want them to look that way or a friend of theirs would have said something to them by now.

Another thing I tend to see is women with big hands. I was in a store the other day and this girl had the biggest hands I had ever seen on a female av. It didn't match her av at all and It was like watching that old Seinfeld episode where Jerry dates the girl with man-hands.

I am not really one to judge on peoples avs because I don't want to hurt anyones feelings or them be all pissed off that I said something to offend them. Most of the time I just assume they want to look like that and who am I to tell them to change.

I like my large lips... But really its all about someones own image of beauty. A lot of people make their av's attractive according to their own feelings of the "ideal" body. (ie. overly muscular which I find grotesque)

My God..! She's all.. all.. ..Lumpy, yet smooth at the same time. Her very face is like a physical paradox that will one day collapse into itself and create some sort of weird gravity well into which small children and pets are sucked by the sheer force of FACE. ..Or something like that. Either way, she's mighty creepy. As for giant avvie lips, I don't especially care one way or another.

But another thing that somewhat perplexes me are the giagantic rears these same avs often have. I mean, I can appreciate a nice butt like anyone else.. But when an otherwise very slender woman bears one that looks twice as wide as he torso.. It's just wow. But, that's the fun of the sliders. ^.^ They have their limits, but said barriers exceed Nature's somewhat, making things interesting.

Big lips, big hips and big tits seem to be a SL tradition.

Agreed. I don't have overly huge lips, but they are not normal sized either. I had my set since I started SL, based on my RL appearance. I am a bit surprised to see that huge lips are now a trend? Geez.

The bigger the lips the bigger the in your face marketing scheme to take over all our minds and make us buy rediculous things at high cost without conciquences what so ever unless you wake up with a CG animatied midget in your bed wondering where you went wrong that night when you span around on that prim drinking beer and smokeing untill a year had passed and you figured it out,
